The Patch notes say “Integrated new multi-threaded performance optimizations for clients using DirectX 12 and Metal.”
What is meant by “Metal”?

Metal is an Apple integrated graphics thing I believe. So for mac users.
Metal, and when they’re talking about Metal they mean MEEEEETAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL
DEATH KILL MURDER!! YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH THERE IS NO GOOOOOOOOOOD
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
that kind.
Hurray for 30% more FPS.
Now, you can be bored 30% faster!
What do we need to do to enable those options?
I didn’t see any new things on the config file.
I’ll admit that was my initial reaction. “You mean I have to listen to Slipknot to use multi-threading? Bullocks.”
just have directx 12 enabled. and it’ll work.
WoWhead says that you need to copy these :
In order to test the new optimizations on PTR yourself, all you need to do is to set your Graphics API to DirectX 12, under System > Advanced settings, close your game and then add the following lines to the end of your Config.wtf file, located inside the WTF folder in your PTR installation:
SET gxMTPrepass “1”
SET gxMTOpaque “1”
SET gxMTDisable “0”
SET gxMTBeginDraw “1”
SET gxMTShadow "1
Also since were on the topic of multi-threading those of you with Nvidia drivers the latest Nvidia update does specifically include stuff for the multi-thread BFA update.
But this isn’t PTR friend
8.1 will be live in a few hours. And you won’t need to do that.
Cheers!
And propper hardware & OS.
My NVIDIA WoW optimizations has been removed from the list not sure why, after I updated today to the latest 8.1 patch.
Thanks buddy, but what are the other options for tho?
Is the multicore going live today in the patch? Cuz I an curious if I can up some setti gs on the Ole potato.
I thought it was not hitting. Today, but I could have been mistaken.
It’s in today’s patch notes. So I think it went live.
Not sure why that would be. I’d check myself but I’m at work currently.
It is going live today, yes. And I don’t know much of the other options. I just know with directx12 enabled you will be able to enjoy the fully implemented multi threading capabilities.
Go to buralis. You will know 100% if you have it on
You’ll go from lag to smooth. If your gpu and cpu is capable.
Another thing to add, those of you capable of running DirectX 12 will find WoW defaulting to that for you now, so unless you have specified DirectX 11 expect it to already be set to 12 when you launch today (if capable).
