Multiple Monitors

Windows 11
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080
LEFT SIDE Monitor 2 Dell 60hz
RIGHT SIDE Monitor 1 LG 144hz HDR
I play with my games on the right side, Monitor 1

In World of Warcraft options > graphics the game seems to be confusing monitor 1 with monitor 2 and visa versa. If I select Monitor 1 in WoW it will put my game on the left side, Monitor 2. If I select Primary it will go to the correct monitor I have selected on my system as Primary, however when on the left side the game is brighter (HDR which it doesn’t have). I’ve changed which is which on my system and it will follow, but selecting Monitor 1 or 2 will move the game to the opposite.

Something weird happens with this, if my game is on my DELL monitor I will get my usual ~200FPS as displayed by WoW’s in-game FPS counter, which is not possible as that monitor is 60hz. It’s also brighter, indicating HDR, which is also impossible. If my game is on my LG my game is capped at 60FPS and dimmer. I don’t know if WoW’s options of monitor selection 1 and 2 directly pulls from my system of which is monitor 1 or 2? What is happening here?

  • Drivers up-to-date
  • VSYNC is disabled in NVIDIA settings and in WoW settings
  • Confirmed both monitors are set to the correct refresh rate
  • Unplugged both monitors and back in

Double-check the display settings within Windows. You can click and drag the 1 and 2 to move their positions so that one is on the left or right of the other. You might need to do it in the Nvidia settings though, but it likely just links to the Windows settings.
