Hello all,
I seem to be experiencing everything that all of you have experienced, I have sort of found a solution and so I’ll post what has happened and how I fixed it.
First, I did report my issues to Blizzard support, that took quite a while to get an answer as I believe they are inundated with help requests. This guild bank access issue began after the May 7 patch, version 10.2.7.
I have two computers, a laptop and a tower, both have WoW on them and I have two active accounts. My tower runs Windows 11 Pro, and my laptop runs Windows 10 Pro x64. I have been playing since 2009 on both of my accounts and I found it extremely weird that both the PC’s had the guild bank access problems. I use a variety of add-ons, and what I found was a super popular one that has only recently been updated, may have contributed to my issues. (details below, the add-on was not the problem)
I experienced the ‘you are not in a guild’ message (shows up as yellow text in your chat box) and also had the ‘no interaction’ possible once I had tried to open the guild bank, nothing worked, this happened in the Valdrakken guild bank, Stormwind, Warlords of Draenor Garrison banking shop and the mobile banking chest on both the laptop and tower. I became increasingly frustrated at no response from Blizzard and began testing some things. I tried both computers with every add-on disabled and then one at a time added one back, then another until something failed. That was when I noticed my storage add-on was corrupted so I did a re-install through curseforge (my add-on manager) and that gave me a newer, updated version as it was what I believed contributing to some issues. Unfortunately this was not the source of my problem as even with it updated the problem still intermittently occurred (different characters, different accounts, different computers).
I also did some research and found that my logging into my accounts as I swapped from one to the other on my tower was extremely slow as I had to wait quite a long time to get a request on my cell for two-factor authentication, this brought me to doing a scan and repair of my tower as my laptop was very quick when it made a request for authentication.
This feature is found in your battle.net app, the ‘play’ button has a gear symbol to the right and if you click on it, a list shows up of choices and one is scan and repair the wow files. This takes a few minutes and then I rebooted. That did solve my login authentication issues and now it is back to very fast, a second or two go by before I get the request on my cell.
These two fixes seemed to put a halt to the guild bank access problem, but unfortunately it still happened the next day. What I found was instead of trying to use your task manager to exit the program, because doing this did tell me a few times when I rebooted, started the game and tried to login as my main again, that ‘character with that name exists already’ I just unplugged the ethernet cable and let the game log me out due to lost connection. When I did have the guild bank no interaction happen, I could not do anything, no teleports, mounting a mount, casting a spell, interacting with any other NPC/vendor or player, could not log out or exit the game either.
So far, today, May 13, I have not had a problem accessing my guild banks. I have 3 guilds of my own (2 Alliance, 1 Horde) all populated with my own characters, and I can successfully deposit gold, withdraw it, put items into the bank and withdraw them and move them from tab to tab.
I hope that it will continue to work properly, but my results (all the information I wrote above) I submitted to Blizzard’s customer support and had a reply, it didn’t help but it was just a UI scaling configuration response I received. I believe that there was a corrupt file in the WoW directories and doing the scan and repair has fixed it because neither of my PC’s has given me this problem for a day now.
If it does pop up again, I’ll report it and edit my post here.
Good luck all with your guild bank access.
Another important issue that while is not directly related, is that I have noticed that activities like the disenchanting items to get the “Dust, Dust and More Dust…” achievement are frozen. I have disenchanted hundreds of things since May 7th’s patch and my guild achiev progress is stuck at 10215. I think that there is still some guild internal data corruption issues and am currently trying to report this bug as well.
Just had it happen again, I could not access any guild bank interface, but I could do anything else this time, including logging out and exiting the game. So there is still a problem I had played my main most of this afternoon, staying on for perhaps 5 hours then had to turn off my bag add-on to access the void storage, (I could not deposit an item for some reason) when I reloaded the UI and went back to my bank in Valdrakken’s main area, no more access, this time I could interact with NPC’s and teleport, mount and use the portal to go to Stormwind, no guild bank access there either nor in the WoD garrison bank area.
Still broken I guess…
