Multiple Deep Wounds?

Not sure if this is the expected behavior or not, but reading discussions from years past on deep wounds hasme wondering about how the debuff “stacks” when you get a critical hit on a target that already has deep wounds.

Most of the discussion I have seen suggests that if a warrior gets a critical strike on a target that already has deep wounds, then the debuff duration is refreshed and any leftover damage from the first instance is added to the total damage of the new instance.

For example, if a warrior has a weapon with 100 average damage and gets a crit with max deep wounds, the target would take 60 damage over 12 seconds in 2 second intervals, 10 damage per tick. If 6 seconds later the warrior gets a second crit, the debuff goes back to having a 12 second duration and the remaining 30 damage is added to the new instance, so the target now takes 90 damage over the 12 seconds, 15 damage per tick.

Right now in classic, the second crit will refresh the duration of the debuff, but will not add in the remaining damage, leaving the leftover damage from the first instance lost.

Is this working as intended? It’s entirely possible that the discussions I’ve seen were wrong or for a different version of the game, but I can’t find any change logs or official notes on how this interaction is supposed to work. Anyone know?

/bump for info

iirc this is the way it worked in TBC. From what I’ve read it seems that how you describe it currently working is how it is intended. So deep wounds scales with weapon damage but has DR with crit.
