That IS something Blizzard should steal from FF14.
One character being able to swap between race compatible classes.
Of course, covs would get in the way.
Imagine if Blizzard made it so mail and leather were the same armor class, too, so it would be easier to switch classes.
Mmm.
One character, many classes. Mmm.

Considering most things such as mounts and achievements are account bound now, doesn’t really make much sense to go through the process of doing that. You still have to level a character’s new job in FF14, the only difference in that regard is that you just wouldn’t have to log out and back in, which seems like a rather small thing to do.

Uhhh many issues found:
Priest to warlock
Paladin to dk or viceversa
Rogue to druid or monk, or any to DH and vice versa
This feasibly could only sort of work for mail.
How about switching specs? Close enough, no?
Naaa, let each game have its unique things.

Mate, we can’t even change specs as a singular class anymore and play optimally. How in god’s name do you want this development team to do this?

I prefer things being on the character level if I’m being honest.
Even in FFXIV, a game I play for like 1-2 months per expansion, I have 3 separate characters at max level with the story complete with different classes leveled.
No, it’s not. That’s one of the worst features of FFXIV.
Would be nice to have that feature in game. Not sure about that armor change tho
Rather not have CoD loadouts in wow, kthnx
Limiting them to race-specific classes would be a bad idea due to the uneven number of classes available to each one. Trolls and dwarves would basically be considered relatively OP as far as variety goes.
No thank you.
I much prefer that each individual character embodies a piece of the Warcraft universe.
A shaman is always a shaman, they always use the elements and convoke with the spirits.
Instead of having every character be a world saving, shapeshifting Medan level hero capable of using any type of magic or power in the universe at any time.

I enjoy playing diff race chars once in awhile. I love alts but it seemed redundant to do when I played ff14 a few yrs ago
Eh, I don’t like this one.
But if they made the game more alt friendly, that’d be pretty great.
How about instead of that we can have some slightly class combos like lore characters? Example being priest and hunter mix like tyrande. Oh how much of a balance nightmare that would be!
That really doesn’t sound interesting imo Ima pass on this
Wouldn’t have to be a nightmare. Just allow a character to learn 1 spec from another class. Tyrande would be a priest who also has Survival hunter spec.
They’d still be balancing 1 spec at a time.
What difference does it make?
You still have to level each job individually in ffxiv
Mounts are account wide
Achievements are account wide
The only thing I could think of is reputation, which imo should be account wide anyway.
I guess you could share gear between classes which would be a bonus I’d agree. Eg shaman and hunter etc etc
I like have different rooms for different classes. Some races have bad casting animations and others have bad melee animations.
WoW has a more fluid system. In FFXIV you need completely separate gear for healing, tanking, magic DPS, or melee. I play SMN and can swap to the same level SCH by just changing my soul crystal, but it needs a completely separate set of gear. There are weekly caps on currency so your gear progression is limited on an off-spec job.
In WoW, your gear swaps main stats when you swap specs so very few pieces have to be replaced unless you’re really trying to min/max. It’s way easier to flip between enh and resto on my shaman or resto and boomie on my druid than swapping between dps, tank, and heals in FFXIV. You just need to choose a class that can heal or tank if you want to.
