Several class action lawsuits have been filed against Activision-Blizzard claiming false statements were made regarding the termination of Bungie’s relationship with ATVI.
Basically, they are claiming that Acti-Blizz said things were going well when in fact they knew that Bungie was leaving, with the Destiny franchise etc. This could be very problematic for ATVI, which has already taken a big hit to its stock value over the past few months.
Is it a cash grab by a bunch of lawyers? Maybe. But, if they didn’t think they had a case they probably wouldn’t be going up against a multi-billion dollar company with practically limitless legal access.
What might this mean for WoW? Perhaps nothing, but if ATVI keeps taking hits then there can be a trickle-down effect. Maybe they will all split up and Blizzard will be sold off or something, someday. Who knows?
“According to the Complaint, the Company made false and misleading statements to the market. Activision Blizzard’s termination of its partnership with Bungie Inc., which would give full publishing rights for the Destiny gaming franchise to Bungie, was about to occur. The end of the agreement between the two Companies was likely to have a considerable negative impact on Activision Blizzard’s revenues moving forward. Based on these facts, the Company’s public statements throughout the class period were false and materially misleading. When the market learned the truth about Activision Blizzard (ATVI), investors suffered damages.”
Let’s highlight this part, because your entire post is a bunch of non sequiturs designed specifically to get bites out of the gullible. You’re literally admitting that you don’t really know what you’re talking about.
8/10 bait. I expect a grand storm here in the replies.
What? No, it really isn’t. I’m a 14-year veteran of this game and am genuinely concerned about this. I hadn’t seen anyone else post about it, so I decided to.
It looks more like you’re trying to derail this thread.
Your thread is a derailment in and of itself. You had good bait, but the first three people who saw it called you on it so you’re not gonna get any bites.
Here’s the flaw in your logic. These lawyers are less interested in winning a case than they are in winning a big payday. Winning is only important insofar as it will make the payday bigger. Which is why they target ‘multi-billion dollar’ companies — the bigger the company, the bigger the potential payday.
Do you think McDonald’s was sued because their coffee was hotter or more dangerous than (insert random local/regional coffeeshop)? They got sued because they have a fat wallet.
I have no doubt there’s some truth in that. Just looking for a settlement where the lawyers get most of the payout. But, ATVI has the resources to fight it, so hopefully they won’t settle if they didn’t do anything wrong.
