Multiple characters, same class

I’m sort of struggling. I really like leveling alts up and i like having different aesthetics, but I feel like it’s wasteful to level up more than 1 of the same class on the same faction. I can justify doing a horde druid and an alliance druid, but then I kinda want to have a zandalari druid and a KT druid, etc. I want to level up all the allied races but I’m running out of classes without doubling up.

It doesn’t help that this expansion is super unfriendly to alts you might wanna play seriously, so I guess half of these guys would end up just being glorified bank alts / crafter / gatherer mules…

Do you have multiple of the same class on the same faction? If so, how do you… I dunno get over the fact that it seems like a waste? Like, if you put that time and effort into your pre-existing 120, it would just be better, etc.

I have 4 warlocks, 3 alliance and 1 horde. I play my 3 alliance each with a different spec, that way it’s not always the same.

Yes, because it’s easier than trying to multi-spec. And some of the specs are so different that they’re like playing a different class.
I.e. feral vs balance.

Ive got so many death knights… on both factions…

But yeah, I can understand the want to make multiple druids because of all of the different racial druid forms.

I don’t duplicate classes in the same faction, unless it’s across servers (like, I once had DKs on both KT and Proudmoore for a while).

I will duplicate classes across factions, though… on Alliance I’m DH main with DK second, on Horde I’m DK main with DH second.

It’s not even that… I mean, with druid it is. But like, I wanna level up all the races as well as all the classes. Heritage armor, etc.

On horde I lean heavily towards trolls because of the history and lore. I’m just a huge fan. On Alliance I’ve been super invested in KT’s because I get to be a big chonky human like I am IRL :stuck_out_tongue:

My latest struggle has been with The super space goats. I wanna level up a lightforged but I kinda wanna do paladin… I just did a dark iron dwarf paladin and already have a bloodelf paladin… I also sorta want a zandalari paladin >_<

I know when these guys hit 120 they’ll mostly be shelved so then I start talking myself out of leveling them, but then I end up back at character creation staring at one or even make one but never log it in. It’s getting weird.

Yes. Alts have benefits. If you really like the class and the races level them. If you like to make gold with that class it is also good.

I have one toon of each spec with different races. This works out well on horde because we have four races that can be druids and three races that can be paladins.

Then I have one of each race on Alliance because I ran out of things to level and hate myself.

I don’t really do multiples of the same class. I already have a Paladin, it’s capable of doing anything I would want to do as a Paladin. The only way I’d get anything out of having a second one is if transmog or mount farming were higher on my priority list. And even then I’d rather just level another plate class like DK or Warrior.

Think of it as just playing for fun. Some people play through original Doom for fun.

the only real benefit is xmog runs. Pretty pointless outside of that. You will gear up 2 specs on 1 character much faster than you’d gear up 2 characters of the same spec.

The little class specific content WoW has is also NOT faction or race specific, so, not like you’d be seeing a different side to a story or something.

well, I do want to do more mog/mount farming but I’m not impatient enough to use that as a reason to have that many of the same class lol. I think I’m just gonna take the route a few people have mentioned and just look at it as playing em for fun.

I do dislike multi-speccing on characters too. i sorta get in my head that “This toon is X” and playing as Y always feels off.

I don’t level multiple of the same classes. I don’t see the point. Granted, I don’t like leveling all that much once I’ve done it a couple of times, so since I’m not leveling up many characters I don’t have a reason to duplicate classes.

The only time I can think of when I would duplicate classes were games like Diablo 2 where you couldn’t reset your skills so you had to make new characters to try different skill builds.

I recently deleted a bunch of toons because I feel like they distract from attaining goals. I would just ask are you leveling all the time because you enjoy it or are you just bored with a “main”? If you’re bored just step away from wow for a few days then come back and your main(s) will feel fresh.

I have multiples, the way I justify it is I have them lol. I don’t play all of them, I’ve got one around 435 and the rest just sit there with nothing but catchup gear. They are extra characters for old raid lockouts etc, and now I can say I have 'em.

Sure, I have multiple characters of the same class. Each one has a different spec though. I like to dabble with every spec and class available, it’s fun for me.

You just explained my dilemma. Thousands of different themes and looks. Limited character space and time.

I enjoy leveling as much as endgame and like getting lost in the world taking different paths as I go. So, there are a few classes that I have several of on the same faction, because I simply enjoy their play styles.

It’s a combination of things. I like leveling, I like collecting things (race/class combos), and I enjoy trying to optimize how I level, etc. Those are the positive reasons.

The negative reasons are… I hate time gating. I tend to play LONG sessions but not every day, so I run out of pertinent stuff to do on my primary characters. Once I’ve done the dailies / world quests that matter and done my weekly chores on my primary characters, I’m left with hours of game time and i wanna play WoW.
