Multiple Bugs in "Competitive Devotion" and "Pterritorial Dispute"

I know this is long, but while I have seen a few mentions of issues with these quests, I hadn’t seen anyone walk through the steps where the bug was encountered. Hopefully this helps Blizz replicate and fix it! I might be updating later tonight if I can get the broken stuff to work, or just muscle my way through the quest without the bugged abilities. Hopefully this is helpful for some people :smiley:

Specs:

  • OS: Windows 10 (10.0.17134 Build 17134)
  • Mods on System: Spartan UI, DMB, Bartender4, Titan Panel, Details! Damage Meter, Healbot Continued, Total RP 3
  • Trouble Shooting Done:
    ** Updated Mods
    **Logged out, logged back in
    ** Deactivated all mods

Character Encountered With

  • iseri | Server: Dalaran | Belf Marksman Hunter | 118

Bugs encountered:

  • Guardian of the Crypts will “reset”- jump back to his respawn point after a certain amount of damage is done, completely regen health and respawn his cultist mobs as though you never attacked him no matter what distance or place you draw him to. He is not aggro’d once he does this.
  • Respawning cultists would occasionally bug and not be attackable; essentially they would evade/miss all shots fired until the Guardian of the Crypts itself was attacked. Mobs were then killable like normal.
  • Skeletons did not despawn after Guardian of the Crypts “reset”.
  • In the quests “Competitve Devotion”, “Pterritorial Dispute” and “Restraining Order”, the Loa’s abilities do not generate a clickable button at any time during combat or outside of it.

Scenarios in which bugs were encountered:

  • Took quests Restraining Order and Pterritorial Dispute (love the pun). Did not get a special bar there; didn’t realize you needed one.
  • Accepted next quest Competitive Devotion. No additional ability bar triggered here either.
  • Entered area with the Guardian of the Tombs, drew first 3 mobs like normal, Guardian mob aggro’d with the attack of the final mob. Got boss down to 25% health despite the large number of skeletons it raised; boss “jumped” or “leaped” back to his starting point, which respawned his cultists. The skeletons did not despawn, so I died :grimacing:
  • Attempted a second time; no additional ability bar again, didn’t realize you needed it anyways; figured I had pulled the boss too far from his spawning area. However, encountered the same glitch as before; it jumped back to its original spawn point + new cultists, but the skeletons remained and were aggro’d.
  • Attempted a third time after googling; tried to draw the big guy out into the courtyard and had added other Loa powers to my bufflist. He couldn’t fit through the door I guess? :rofl: I didn’t die this time, but he bopped back to his spawnpoint. The skeletons like last time, remained and chased me around a bit.
  • Tried again, now to draw him up the stairs. Here’s where things get super weird. He popped back again to the spawning area; I killed his skeletons then went to draw him again.
  • 1 of his respawned cultists would evade any projectiles and didn’t seem to notice the attacks. I killed the remaining 3, attacked the guardian directly, got summarily slaughtered by the large number of skeletons that were not going away once the guardian reset.
  • Tried again from the area to the side of the guardian + mobs; this time 2/4 cultists would do the evade thing. I attacked the Guardian to see if I could; once he was aggro’d, the cultist spawns would be attackable.
  • Did more googling, discovered that apparently there should be an ability action bar for the loa.
  • Decided to log the bug here instead of dying endlessly :joy:
  • Since it’s been a few hours that this happened, I will be logging back in to see if the action bar pops up this time with the Loa’s ability :slight_smile:

An entire year later and this is still an issue.
