Multiboxing with two computers

I’m sure I’ll get some flack for this question but if I control one computer with keyboard(left hand) and second computer with mouse(right hand)? I feel like that shouldn’t violate ToS as I’m actively controlling both accounts but just want to hear others input.

last time i checked multi-boxing is allowed as long as ur not doing anything bad with it

u dont have to do it in any weird way, just have to pay multiple subs

As long as you’re manually controlling, but that seems super clunky. I used to just run clients on 2 monitors and had my OS set to activate window on mouse over. This allowed me to use the same keyboard and mouse for both clients, and just mouse over the monitor with the client I wanted to use abilities on.

Multi-Boxing or running multiple accounts is not against ToS.

Automating play is against ToS.

That’s my understanding as well, it will be completely manual. It might end up being too clunky or slow I just wanted to make sure I wouldn’t get “das boot”.

I have dual-boxed since 2005 in this setup.

2 PCs, my main one, and a second with an external keypad. I bind a bunch of macros to the second PC’s keypad to heal and follow. No additional tools or external software. For Forever, I’m actually writing a personal addon that will stop me needing to disable the keybinding and macro sync on the 2nd PC too, now that we have access to SetOverrideBinding.

There’s nothing against ToS to play on two computers at once, because every spell is cast intentionally without any duplication or cloning.

It’s not really that difficult.

I leveled a Priest and Warrior multi-boxing like 10 years ago. It’s pretty easy as long as you have at least 2 monitors. You just go back and forth.

Can you elaborate on how SetOverrideBinding will be beneficial?

Yup. No need for a second PC at all.

My Warrior/pally will have a pocket druid/priest and lol their ways to 60.

You don’t need two computers. I play 8 on one pc sometimes. It’s very easy and I highly recommend 1 pc

The only benefit I can see in a second PC is if both machines are particularly weak. With a decent modern machine, running 2 clients shouldn’t be an issue.

If you still want to use the Follower as a real character, when you change keybindings on your 2nd PC it would sync back to your main. The solution was to turn off the keybinding sync so that that separate PC was basically built differently, but your sync’d settings were normal.

With SetOverrideBinding, it only lasts for the current session and is not synced. As per the https://warcraft.wiki.gg/wiki/API:SetOverrideBinding page:

Override bindings are never saved, and will be wiped by an interface reload.

I’m writing an addon that creates new action buttons, using SecureActionTemplate and then uses SetOverrideBinding to bind the keypad to those buttons, but only for the current session. And clearing the bindings when it’s done.

Once this is done (I’ve got all the keybinding work done, just writing a few added features like auto-accept quests shared from the Leader only) I won’t need to disable the sync, and that PC could be used like a normal PC when not in Follower mode.

Not need for this complexity.

Just play in Windowed mode. When you activate one monitor, your spells and keybinds for that character will be active.

Example - when I played War / Priest, the Priest was simply their to be a healer when necessary. Primarily played the Warrior and healed / shielded when necessary. Other than that, Priest is on follow most of the time.

Not sure why anyone is suggesting a “Second PC” when you can easily run more than 2 clients of WoW at the same time even on low end PCs.

The main benefit I’m thinking about is not having to tab between windows. Like I can press 1 on keyboard and numpad1 on mouse similarly timed essentially.

He doesn’t need to, that’s the entire point.

Not sure why anyone would even suggest he needs to use 2 PCs.

It’s not a computer issue it’s more not having to switch been windows.

I suggest not multi-boxing then if you do not have more than 1 monitor.

2 PCs but not a second monitor? wat

You lose a lot of control doing that. Fast mouse and practice you’ll be way ahead on one PC.

Edit to add: Not counting very specific situations where you’re trying to two-shot an enemy in one global.

I’ve got multiple monitors, one being a 49in samsung that can technically be split into two monitors if I wanted.
