Multiboxing - the good, the bad, the ugly.
PROS:
Blizz makes more $
solo person can get gear, pvp, dungeon, all on their own
CONS:
Broken economy
solo person can get gear, pvp, dungeon, all on their own
unfair advantage over everyone else
play style requires outside programs to input chat commands and macros
unauthentic to the nature of wow classic
ability to manipulate the market, control commodities, and destroy the economy is much easier when you can do it with 5 accounts farming the same thing, versus 1.
This practice is unfair and in my opinion destroys the authentic classic wow experience. Ban multi-boxing PLZ BLIZZARD at least for classic wow. you already broke retail, please dont break classic with allowing for unfair play styles just because those people give you a little extra money each month.
how can it be fair? not all people want or can afford to buy 5 clients, pay 5 monthly subscriptions. WoW classic is supposed to be about not allowing people to be pay to win, which is what broke or perceived to have broken current retail wow. why allow it in any way in classic.
Multiboxing
PROS: Clueless players jealous of other people having more disposable income will create endless, pointless, hilariously stupid threads about multiboxing.
Pros: is probably a mix in the system vs neck beards. It helps the average player when the two clash. Almost like Real life rich and poor. The middle class is stuck in middle.
Cons: most likely bots, gold selling, account selling, account sharing.
people should not be put in a disadvantage for playing a game as the game was intended to be played. I donât think you will find any game dev say âWe wanted people to create programs to help you input commands to allow you to run 5 or more clients at any given time to give you an advantage in game playâ
Some people cannot afford to play WoW at all. Some people cannot afford high speed Internet connections.
Being at an advantage due to having better ping, a more comfortable chair, playing environment etc. are not unfair, in the same way. Those things are all equally available to all people.
Perhaps this is an agree to disagree situation, but I disagree that there is any unfair advantage to multiboxing.
Regardless, you have your opinion, and youâve shared it, and I appreciate that, even if I disagree
I can appreciate a difference of opinion, I would be interested in knowing how you feel this practice promotes a healthy experience though. how the use of outside programs is an acceptable play style but yet not considered cheating or broken and should be allowed.
how do you cope. for example, on my server, a group of multiboxers ensures every single black lotus is picked as soon as it spawns. how does that foster a fair ecosystem and fare market when you canât even hope to access these resources.
Well for one thing all your cons are laughable at best and second multiboxing was around in MMOs before World of Warcraft existed. In fact it existed pre-MMO.
Youâre using words like âfairâ when all you need to ask is âis it automationâ. People will tell you that itâs not automation because itâs replicating a manual input; these people donât realize that replicating a manual input is the basis of all automation. The ToS specifically prohibits any and all automation, but we can see that in the case of a multibox, one player automating one or more accounts to copy their inputs is being allowed.
What then is the difference between between someone automating multiple accounts to actively replicate inputs and someone running software to have a bot replicate a list of inputs? The answer is that the first one transforms a single paying player into multiple paying players in terms of revenue. Thatâs all it comes down to; itâs been that way for 15 years.
so far out of everyone who I have seen supporting multiboxing, none of you have given solid reasoning as to why its a good thing for the game to have, youâve all just said âcuz lol why not let themâ where as the cons are much more impactful for the health of the game thus far. im not opposed to listening to debate or understanding further on to how who or why its positive, just trying to balance the pros with the mountain of cons
