These aren’t things I just “decided” to apply. There are important distinctions that you’re overlooking.
What do you even think a broadcast is? The signal is being sent to all instances of WoW instead of just the one in focus. How would you expect the game to not respond to a signal being sent to it telling it to do something?
I don’t warmode, but I just used it to my advantage. I came across some moonkin killing trolls I needed to kill, so I just stood out of their spell range, and moved into range if I was too overwhelmed by mobs and let them pick the extras off of me.
No. No it’s not. That’s where the misunderstanding constantly comes in.
The same way when you type on a wireless keyboard and it sends the button presses to the window you have on top, a key clone program sends the button presses from the keyboard to the pre-specified client windows all at the same time. It’s not Character A does something and the others copy.
The necessitation of a key clone program in order to facilitate this manner of play is what I have a problem with, and key clone software should be banned from use in conjunction with wow.
you can call it chicken fried steak if that makes you feel better guy…BLIZZARD ALLOWS it, whatever its called…and that really is the end of the discussion, believe it or not.
Then you would have to ban wireless keyboards and mice as well.
And multiboxers who could afford it would just go old school and play the game on multiple computers like they did with Ultima Online and other games of that era.
You couldn’t be more right. Many people are under the illusion that the status quo is correct.
To be fair, even if the game makers know it’s wrong, it’s all “politics.” As I explained before, if a guy 8-boxes (I’ve seen more), thats 8 subs. That’s 8 times the money from 1 person. I’m sure several people are doing it, which is good money. If they “ban” it because it causes disturbing gameplay, thats a lot less money in their pockets.
I work in business so I know how it is. You have to do some balancing. Businesses will play the dog/pony and smoke/mirrors game for the bottom line. I’ve audited companies and seen a lot of their games. One of the most common is in regards to safety. Companies love to spout off “safety first!” but will knowingly allow people to do things unsafe because it pads the bottom line.
yeah…technically there isnt any way to entirely ban boxing…I know they think they can, but IP addresses are easily masked. They can break the addons, macros, etc…but just like they cant keep the bots out…they’ll be having the same ongoing problem with determined boxers.
Not to mention if they did ban by IP…hello…the wife and I cant play at the same time…and that would make me outright quit the game entirely.
Better to just keep allowing it but have rules in place.
