So if we ever get a WoW2, kinda a fresh start of sorts, And we’re kinda running out of core fantasy tropes for classes as the only 2 we’re kinda missing atm are Bards and a Tinkerer/Engineer class.(Of which the later I could see us getting in the next expansion). What’s everyone’s views on multi classing and/or Prestige Classes? This is done with great success in multiple other genres/games and even some NPC’s in game are multi-classing. It was also done in the WoW tabletop RPG.
This could be a partial fix to the current max level issue as well.
Any WOW2 would only work if current characters could be imported.
Isn’t the DK a prestige class already? It was touted as a “hero” class, which is the same, isn’t it? Starts at level 55 etc. How would a “prestige” class be different?
Any other classes such as Bard or Tinker could be implemented into current WOW, but would have to be balanced against the current classes, and that’s always a big headache.
Unsure how a multiclassing would work out with WOW, as it’s never really been explored but it would be an interesting new system for them to undertake…
Perhaps subclasses? Hunter > Warden, or Mage > Sorceror, etc.
A Prestige Class requires you to be a level of a certain class/race/etc to be able to pick it. You don’t just start off at a arbitrary level.
They already have multiple NPC’s that are multiclassed in game so they’d have to translate that over to players somehow. And the specs are very similar to a sub class to me at least.
That’s pretty much the definition of “Prestige” Races, or Allied Races as we know them now. You have to have a certain standing with those races to be able to roll a character of that race.
Any form of multi-class/sub-class/whatever is something that’s neat as a player right off the bat, but presents basically unmanageable balance issues unless it’s limited to the point that it takes away the fun it had to begin with.
One way to balance it is to limit the multi-lcass player to one class at a time. They would have to do something similar to a respec to change from Warrior to Warlock for example. Since the player would only be able to function as one class at a time there would be no effective balance problems.
It would functionally be like simply logging from your Warrior to your Warlock.
This could also reduce the need for alts.
It could be fun to be a level 120 Warrior as well as a level 28 Warlock that you are working on leveling on the side.
It would have to be limited. Ive got the 1000 pet achievement and 350 mounts achieve. I doubt they would take the time to port all of them over.
I also have a fair number of alts. It would be unreasonable to expect they all make it. It would porbably have to be a deal where you can pick a main character to port over who will start at level 1 in the new universe/world/timeline. You get an initial Feat of Strength that lists what your final achievement score was in WoW, and perhaps you could select 5 mounts and pets to take.
