Anyone else play every class and spec? You find yourself jumping around your characters every couple minutes or hours because you’re bored? No class rotation really grips me enough to main one. This isnt a complaint more of a “advice to get more into a character”? I used to no life single toons years ago.
I have like 6 I’m trying to play to finish transmog sets this season. And no, it’s not easy. lol But I finished the Pally, Hunter and Warrior sets. Almost finished with Evoker set. Now I’m running two DKs to get that set. But I have to admit… Turbo Boost makes things really fun and helpful.
Rambling aside… I’m not sure I have any advice for how to focus. Because I haven’t had a main all expansion. lol
At the start of a season I’ll have 3-4 toons.
Then as the season goes on I’ll really gravitate towards one or another (usually this paladin, though last season it was my earthen priest).
For the life of me, I couldn’t imagine playing ever class.
These forums are rife with people who desperately need a break from this game and don’t realize it.
Fam, if it ain’t fun anymore, just stop. Unsub for a few months and come back when it sparks joy again. It’s not that deep.
I play a few that I love…not just everything.
Demonology
Beastmaster
Brewmaster
Windwalker
Devastation
Guardian
Blood
Unholy
But yeah…same thing…hopping around those a few times a day.
I dont have a main anymore because of blizzard. When I chose a main in the past, they’d do something to screw it over enough to be annoying. With no main character, theyre not gonna ruin my game unless they trash that whole list. lol
I have one of each class except Demon Hunter (can’t get into it). I try to play one of each armor type and then play the ones who’s transmogs I like for the season. I also have range/melee, healer, and tank to play.
I used to just main one character when raiding/M+ as group content would take all of my effort so I didn’t have anything left for alts. I would get bored of that main class at about the half way point of each season but couldn’t change as I had no geared alts and guilds don’t usually let you change. I could never find a class I wanted to keep playing the whole time.
Now I’ve gone solo, I have so much more energy for all of my characters. Some I just want to do the 8 delves per week and I’m done. Others I can’t stop playing but I do run out of motivation for them eventually. Just not as soon as I used to. The great thing now is I just switch to another character I’m more motivated to play and all is good. I can also pick which one I prefer for content and avoid the ones that are bad at it or I just cant find motivation to play.
I do miss having a favored class though but I’m tired of the mid season changes (my poor hunter last season) and the big differences in dps/survival/vaults/difficulty for each class and spec. I don’t like putting in so much work to be top of meters only to get nerfed into oblivion in the same season or the next season, making me useless. I just want some consistency.
For better or worse and probably reasons of not wanting insanity, I’ve decided to be MOSTLY FDK.
Everytime I dabble in a rogue or mage, I’m like I could do this better on my DK. I’m still terrible at the game, but I’d at least go from tourist trial mode fall on my face to a fighting chance LFR
And it’s the KISS method.
It’s more that I don’t feel the class identity or depth anymore.
I used to play a lot of specs but now I just play the specs on the one character I gear because I won’t be convinced to gear up another character. All my alts wear whatever they get and try going with that, including Elmyouu! But then I don’t feel motivated to play them before long because I don’t want to bother trying to enjoy my 14 key as a 655 ilvl healer
No.
I was playing 8 at the end of DF. That felt too tight so I dropped it to 6. That still felt too tight so I dropped it to 4. Feels pretty manageable now and there is plenty of variety between 4 classes and 12 specs to keep things feeling mostly fresh.
folks, play other games. wow is legit not the only game out there lmao. i’m not sure why people don’t realise they’re seriously burnt out and it’s okay to move around.
There’s also Cata Classic - and soon to be MoP Classic!
I very much use classic as a ‘other game’ and it has legit saved me from getting burned out.
Other games are very much an option to for sure. I just don’t have the largest disposable income - and basically just ‘taking advantage’ of the fact that I get classic with my sub anyways.
I don’t play all of specs, but I’m up to 11 that are at least L80 (some are in Season-1 gear and I’ll get around to them when “I’m bored”). I’m only really playing 2-4 of those per season. Because I’m a nerd engineer, I’m tracking their item-level and required major upgrades in a spreadsheet (obsessive much? No, just organized! :D).
I stick to melee dps, leather and mail only.
I’ve focused on my Assassin Rogue, Frost/Blood DK, Elemental/Resto Shaman Alts mainly, though I’ve been playing my BM and Survival Hunter in Horrific Visions.
I have a mage and a druid and when I played shadowlands I also had a shaman. I have the opposite problem where I want to play a new class but the thought of leveling it… re-gearing…waiting for weeks of vault RNG…makes me say ‘screw it’ and I keep playing my geared characters.
Every class, yes, every spec… not really, nor do I want to. I’m playing in order of importance/investment on this expansion:
- Frost Mage
- Elemental Shaman
- MM/BM Hunter
- Destro Lock
- F. War
- WW Monk
- Frost/Blood DK
- D.Evoker
- Sin/Outlaw Rogue
- Prot./Ret. Paladin
- Feral Druid
- Veng. / Havoc DH
- Holy /Shadow Priest
I do every weekly timegated activity I can on this main first (work orders if profitable, 4 delves, events, weeklies).
Then I rotate frequently at the start of the week because it’s more efficient to do so due to the hourly events and weekly timegating, but I’d focus a lot more if I could.
Theater Troupe → Nightfall → Spreading the Light → Awakening the Machine, takes ~30 minutes.
I’ve done it on 10 characters today, 3 to go for tomorrow.
I’ll soon be done with Nightfall though, got the last mog today and almost no char needs champ gear anymore.
The fact that some recipes tied to these events, like the Ignition bag, still refuse to drop after 13 runs per week is really disheartening though.
After I’m done with the weekly chores, then I pick the lowest ilvl 3-4 alts to do 4 delves with and I’m done for the week with them.
Then, I’d do something else on the main or whatever I want to.
I’m also doing daily profession work orders on the 11 crafters I have, got Tailoring/Enchanting fully maxed out on 2 characters.
Taking weekly breaks is mandatory to keep this up, I just came back from a 2 week break.
There are addons for that (gear/ilvl tracking), but it’s pointless to try for BiS in a seasonal game.
Game is too easy, so no class is all that fun, and I hop around alts a lot.
Give them a backstory, character, a voice, etc.
I don’t play how this character would act, but I find that writing a little story goes a long way in getting me motivated.
lmao.
