Hello all
Regarding multi-boxing and use of broadcast software.
I do multi-box. My main 5 pack is a Paladin Tank, Druid Healer, Warlock, Hunter and Mage.
From the community perspective I believe the goal of banning the software is to avoid affecting the economy which I think can be accomplished a few different ways.
I would propose that blizzard attempts to ban the following types of multi-boxers. It may not be perfect but perhaps would focus the attention on the accounts that are causing issues. I suspect no one from blizzard would read this but I thought it would be fine to try.
Options (one or use multiple)
- Scan for accounts that have multiple accounts, using broadcast software AND use the AH to sell bulk materials of any kind.
a. This can be accomplished a few different ways but I suspect the developers that create the scanning software/rules engine can easily do this. - Ban Access to sell at the AH or allow people to opt out of selling at the AH. This would allow you to ignore those accounts.
a. I was thinking how people would get around this and scanning for bulk mail to other accounts would have to be added to this rule/bot but seems easily done. - Not sure if PVP is a big concern or not but a similar rule/bot to look for multiple accounts doing PVP using broadcast software then warn the account and then BAN if repeated. Opting out of PVP could also be an option. I was thinking of doing PVP (on one account) in shadowlands because of the weekly rewards but I could opt out. I can’t imagine doing PVP with multiple accounts; I would think that would be easy pickings for everyone else to easily wipe them out but I digress.
I enjoy multi-boxing because I enjoy going through dungeons. I don’t enjoy pugs and my group of real life friends only plays once a week at most (usually less) which really is not enough to progress. I enjoy doing the hard bosses that drop mounts and I enjoy the challenge of figuring out the dungeons plus just doing the content. I also like going doing the previous expansion raids which you tend to need more then one to easily do. Even nighthold you needed more then one early on (maybe not now).
I do not play the auction house; I have sold things and I think over the last 6 months I’ve made about one hundred thousand gold which I don’t think is a lot. I was selling just random stuff that I’ve collected to clean out bags. I will now just vendor it instead. I do herb and those herbs were transmuted to mats for cloth to make 30 slot bags for the other 5 packs I made at the end of BFA. Those other 5 packs I made were because of the 100% XP bonus and just trying out different characters/groups.
In short I don’t believe I’m effecting the economy. I think there are ways to accomplish blizzards/community goals and allow them to make money plus allow those idiots (like me) that enjoy multi-boxing. I’m also ok just not doing it anymore as it is just a game but it is something I enjoy doing hence the post.
