My last computer had a 2070 super and was getting 200-300+ fps but I just got a computer with a 2080 super and it can’t even get the 144 for my monitor.
Does anyone know what the problem might be?
Edit: My pc also has an i9-9900kf, much better than my last one.
Doing what? What are we comparing it to?
A Rtx 2080 super isn’t a significant jump in WoW because the CPU is more likely to be the limiting factor.
More cores does not equate to more performance as well at least for this game.
Though it just sounds like your vsync is enabled or another source is limiting your fps.
I think that my cpu is significantly better also. My last one was an i7 something so I would assume my i9 is an upgrade. My vsync is disabled also and those are what frames i’m getting just logging in sitting in town.
Is there something that I should check for?
Towns will vary. For example in Silvermoon city i can easily hit 200-300 fps, but in the main horde town looking outside i can get about 100fps.
Esc -> System -> advance and uncheck the box for max fps
System -> graphics under the Environmental section lower it to 7. It’ll help greatly awhile not hitting the eye candy too much.
Make sure you have your updates.
Windows, Chipset, Nvidia
My 8600k gets about the same performance as the 9900k when both were overclocked to 5Ghz.
I left town and turned down a few graphic setting and i’m consistently getting about 185 while i’m idle so definitely better already.
I think that I have everything updated but that i’m not sure about the chipset.
Then what you’re experiencing is normal.
You can definitely get 200+ fps but it depends where.
In places that has more players or has a lot of textures you will maintain moderate fps 45+
If you want to see where your hardware shine, you would have to play other games like the Tomb Raider, Call of Duty, and those type of games.

Thanks so much, you’ve been a great help and you calmed me down lol.
Yes, nvidia. I’ve considered getting an entirely new system. How much better would something with like a 3900x be?
Edit: just sitting in Boralus, not playing at all, i’m getting about 100 fps. Is that right? I was thinking it would do much better. When I leave Boralus, it varies but i’m usually about 180 while idle.
I also have my settings on about 9 on the slider for most things.
It wouldn’t be. In fact, everything else being equal, it might even result in marginally lower FPS.
You’ve got a 9900KF and a 2080 Super. You’re not going to get better WoW performance than that, no matter how much money you throw at your build. The only slight improvements will come from overclocking both, tweaking your settings, and tempering your expectations. 100 FPS in Boralus is plenty and will reduce drastically the more people are around. That’s the way this game works.
I did this and got some better performance on games
Oh thanks, I never even thought of setting the slider to performance.
All that “optimizing” is just lowering image quality in order to gain a bit of fps. The RTX 2080 super is already overkill for WoW. So you may not gain much or any fps and depending on how much you pay attention to the details that may also not be a noticeable thing for you.

The whole reason that I even got this computer was for the upcoming New World game. I’m hoping that this build will also be good for it. It’s quite a bit more demanding than wow so i’m hoping that this build will be plenty.
Edit: I have a brain injury if you were wondering why I repeated myself.
Im getting 5 Fps in Boraleas if im lucky…cant wait til new build parts come…20fps on setting 2 and i would dance a jig!
Your GPU Costs more than my entire new build!! Enjoy it!!!
What specs is your set up? If you dont mind me asking
I’m just copy and pasting the title from the amazon page where I bought it.
