RIP to British actress Dame Diana Rigg, AKA Mrs. Emma Peel from The Avengers TV series (the B&W episodes are all classics). She was kicking butt way before it was fashionable for women to be portrayed that way. And that black leather outfit she wore . . .
She also starred in my favorite 007 James Bond film On Her Majesty’s Secret Service where she sadly ends up marrying Bond and then is immediately killed.
I just read that and came here to post. She was also on Game of Thrones which probably introduced her to a bunch of new fans, which is pretty nice. She will always be one of my favorite Bond girls and the only Mrs. Bond.
This hurts.
Even though I am being dragged kicking and screaming through middle age, I will still joke about wanting to be Emma Peel when I grow up.
P.S. If you can find it anywhere, she starred in an early 1990s British miniseries called “Mother Love” as an absolutely terrifying character.
