LOL even after almost 15 years the song still holds true today! If your not Gen X, or a Boomer dont bother commenting its beyond your comprehension!
Domo Arigato
Fifteen years since what? The song came out in 1983. That’s 36 years ago.
Personally, I never really cared for Styx. Too, I dunno, theatrical? Hard to pinpoint it. I love Queen, and they were mega theatrical, so … go figure.
Maybe I just don’t care for dude’s voice. Mr. Roboto, Come Sail Away … just not my vibe
. I don’t really think the generation matters; yeah, I’m in my forties now, but Mr. Roboto irritated me when it was on the radio constantly, when I was eight. I didn’t “get it” then, and I still don’t really “get it” now.
That being said, I’m sure there are pre-teens out there today that think Mr. Roboto is mind blowing and amazing. More power to 'em.

Styx was and still is one of my favorite bands. Saw them the first time , I believe in 1974 or '75. They were the backup band for KISS. This was before Tommy Shaw was even with them. Funny thing , on Styx’s last song they blew out the sound system and KISS never played. I didn’t care Styx was awesome and not as commercial as they were later on. All I saw of KISS was them high tailing it out of there. It was their “Lady” Tour. They were awesome, and God I’m old lol
Thank you, thank you. I was in high school when that came out, and it was everywhere. All the normies at my school thought it was deep or something, I don’t know. I just knew I could not stand that guy’s nasally voice. Maybe they were trying to be like Queen with their theatrics but man, they were just a low-rent clone IMO.
1980 here. I caught the tail end of Gen X.
…I … I don’t get the joke, sadly.
Edit: Does this have anything to do with MTV? 'Cause my family didn’t have cable when I was growing up.
Reminds me of when Return of the Jedi came out almost 15 years ago!
Thank god you called that out.
Back in college, when Eric Clapton released the acoustic version of Layla, I commented to a girl that I preferred teh Derek and the Dominoes version. Who? Eric Clapton’s band. He had a band?
I am the modern man. With parts made in Japan.
ok boomer
Hang man is coming down from the gallows and I don’t have very long!
Yes! But, that was the same year the Beatles released Abbey Road, so the film was overshadowed by my incessant and repeated listening to the “new” Beatles album. Thankfully, I eventually peeled myself away from the new episodes of I Love Lucy as well as Abbey Road to drag my lazy butt to the theater.
Man, the 2004 nostalgia is strong. ![]()
