So I don’t know if this is my brain playing tricks or not, but did they have Mp5 and Mp3 gear at some point? Then consolidated into Mp5? I can’t stop thinking this and I need to know if any one else remembered it.
Different gear had different tick amounts.
The only “5” rule was the wait time for mana regen.
Nah, that’s the music format we used back in 2004.
yes there’s some 6 mana per 5 and some 8 mana per 5
No I meant the rate and Mickymoo already confirmed there were different tick rates.
edit: Misread the OP. I have no recollection of Mp3 gear, just music.
Not quite.
So are you saying there weren’t different tick rates?
Tick rates for mana were per 2sec, like energy for rogues. Same deal. Same as health while out of combat.
That’s not what I asked either…
Ugh. You guys are making it more confusing than it needs to be.
Most gear was “every 5 seconds” as far as I know.
However, there were on use abilities (trinkets and spells) that were different.
Mana tide totem was every 3 seconds.
Second wind trinket was every second.
Enamoured water spirit trinket was every 2 seconds.
So it depends on what we are talking about.
I remember MP5 gear. But i think that was in WotLK, not Vanilla.
The Paladin tanking set from BRD has MP5 on it. From vanilla. Death knights used to collect it for transmog.
Edit: sorry, scholomance: deathbone guardian set.
If you’re a healer/caster - you’ll want to farm the Mindtap Talisman from DM as a starter set for raiding.
You could stack these (equip 2) for mana regen, each giving 11mp5
the closest thing i can remember was that the shoulders from the murloc boss in WC gave hp every 4 seconds instead of 5
I was only talking about gear, for some reason my brain distinctly remembers there being two different rates of Mana Regen gear, and I just can’t shake the feeling.
Trinkets and spells were the only thing outside of mp5 that I could find digging around Classic.db lists.
Anything inside of that tick rate has a cool down or other cost, like health or mana.
It was always all MP5 on gear. Does that clear it up for you? Only the amount per 5 seconds changed.
For gear I’m quite confident to say that there was only mp5 available.
However there certainly are other sources in the game that would grant different amounts such as mp2 or mp3.
Mostly these were in the form of buffs or spells.
Technically there are three.
You have the MP5 gear which is constant, casting or not casting it’s the same. MP5 get’s tricky because you would calculate it’s on a “per tick” basis, which happened every 2 seconds, so it was often theorycraft as (MP5Value/2.5) because of that.
Then you had Spirit based regen, which varied depending on class. With spirit you had the “5 second rule” and talents/abilities which impacted it. That one had two “per tick” values depending on if you were inside or outside the Five Second Rule.
