Last night I was casually playing some battlegrounds. I noticed that some players (a warrior) was dashing around all over the place such that his character model was teleporting from one position to another.
I mentioned this in chat and others indicated that they were seeing this as well and just thought that they were lagging.
If it was just one instance of this happening I would shrug it off but I started seeing it happen in other battleground.
Luckily these players were so bad that they couldn’t even effectively earn a kill, but they were difficult to attack since they were all over the place.
Has anyone else witnessed this. I’ve been playing the game for 20 years and I’ve never seen anything this bad before.
Edit → Here’s a video of what it looks like (@ around 16 minute mark):

Sounds like lag. But I’d have to personally see what was going on.
I’ve been playing the game for 20 years. This wasn’t “just lag”. It was coordinated and purposeful.

It’s certainly a possibility. Unfortunately there will always be cheaters. Just report them as best you can.

I put a video of what it looks like in the OP.
I wouldn’t use that word to describe it, no.
It is pretty sad to see. Unfortunately, cheating has become a rampant issue in many games where pvp modes are concerned and basically yeah all you can do is report and hope Blizz does something about it but alas, it took them this long to finally address the bots/hackers in arena/solo so I wouldn’t get my hopes up.

I haven’t play Battlegrounds and Arena regularly for a while but I do enjoy the Casual PvP. This just felt pointless and left a sour taste in my mouth. Not because it significantly ruined my playtime but rather I just don’t want to give these weird sociopaths any kind of satisfaction. I hate to say it but I’m guessing that is their goal.

It is a known thing. They’re called ragers: they intentionally cheat to ruin people’s experiences. Some others, it’s simply a case of they can’t stand losing so they lack the dedication and competitive spirit and would prefer the path of least resistance.
It’s disheartening for sure but I guess there’s the silver lining of knowing what kind of individual they are. Maybe I’m just too pragmatic for these things but worse case: I have fun intentionally going after cheaters and ruining their day, even if I lose because there’s some satisfaction in it lmao. >_>
I don’t pvp hardly at all but when I see bots n stuff exploiting the game, the gloves come off.
Ahhh… good ol’ speed hacking. That takes me back. Didn’t know the kids were still doing that.
could be lag or speed hack either way blizzard doesn’t care about pvp so they’ll do nothing

its lag
my friends and i call it the “mcdonalds wifi rogue” after a wowitshard youtube video
granted it could be something else but ive seen just natty lag look that bad
It may be technically “lag” like the exploit may be intentionally stuttering the player telemetry data but it’s not “just lag” because that player has a bad connection. It’s intentional.
Seems like lag, I have seen similar stuff in dungs.
That’s 100% NOT lag.
Without getting in to the nitty-gritty of how network compensation and such works:
If it was lag you would still see the player popping up at appropriate locations for how quickly (or slowly) a player could normally move with the caveat that it would be based on their specific Moment of movement. Additionally, he was able to time an interrupt properly which is a low% thing even if you were spamming self heals.
I.E. A lagging charging warrior might appear much further than where you expect them based on 100% walking speed because they are hyper accelerated as part of the animation of Charge.
Everyone always thinks people are hacking in video games, i can just imagine the reports at Blizz lol… But its just lag / bad internet … when the computer is not communicating with server it loses connection then it comes back so the person jumps to a different spot
Sometimes player are just cheating. It happens. The video makes it clear.
In some games, they just bar you from playing if you’re lagging too badly, because it could be cheating, but it could be legit lag. Yet both degrade the experience for other players.
