Should check back in here, it totally solved it, just mapped mouse 4 & 5 to keyboard = & - and made a new profile for wow.
I just forgot that the naga used the number row as default thumb bindings and that’s why I never had an issue in the past.
I honestly never even knew it was an issue until now.
Otherwise I assume you would have to use an addon like clique to circumvent the shortcoming of the standard game functionality.
