So Click Casting is all fine and good - when going over unit frames. But why can’t i get an option to Click-Cast the spell when I mouseover an enemy or player in the 3D Game? When i was using bartender - we could set Keybinds to Mouse buttons. So as a Warrior (for example) I could set my “Taunt [@mouseover] Macro” hotkey to keybind to [Shift-Right Click] and then hover over an enemy WITHOUT TARGETING IT to Shift Right Click it and it would taunt it without changing my target. With Click Casting offensive spells - this is way more efficient than what the new default Click Casting system requires; where I may as well tab target it if I’m going to have to click its “Frame” to use my mouse buttons like I did before… I’m really enjoying using less addons like Bartender and Healbot and Clique - but this limited mouseover functionality seems too hampering… am I missing an option somewhere that would make this possible? Or is there an addon that would add that kind of Keybind functionality without having to totally replace the default Bars?
Do you have enemy nameplates enabled?
Unfortunately, I just did a quick check, and the default click casting doesn’t look like it works on nameplates. (I tried it with a healing spell and friendly nameplates, but I can’t imagine enemy ones would work differently.)
So, it looks like the answer is that the default UI can’t do it.
The workaround without using addons is to use mouseover macros. That won’t be an option for any left or right click options (as the default won’t support those for keybinds.) For non-mouse keybinds, just a mouseover macro will do what you want. For mouse buttons like mb3, mb4, and so on, you’ll need both a mouseover macro bound to the key and to use the click casting interface. (The mouseover will work on stuff in the world, and the click casting will work on frames — they can share a bind.)
Technically you don’t need macros for mouseovers anymore, you can just enable Mouseover Cast in the Options and it’ll make all your spells function as mouseovers where applicable. But yeah, to get click casting working on all the things you’d need Clique.
Clique seems to work the same as Click Casting though… you have to mouseover a Nameplate, not just the character’s in-game model or bar above them with enemy plates enabled, etc. You have to literally have them targeted to hover over your target nameplate… unless I’m just missing some option that i can enable literal mouseover…
Correct. Clique casting only works with frames.
Just having Mouseover Cast enabled for me didn’t work with spells binded to mouse buttons, only keyboard key worked.
Correct. Unit Frames eat mouse clicks unless you’re using click-casting.
