I have some red dragon mechanical keyboard and gaming mouse someone bought me 2 years ago and Im ready to upgrade. I see a lot of suggestions for the g600 but I was wondering do most people bind their abilities to that mouse? Seems like it would be difficult for movement plus abilities. Any suggestions would be great and I was also wondering if anyone has noticed if wireless makes a noticeable difference?
Using buttons on a mouse is easier than it may first imagine, to be truthful I often find many of the mouse buttons easier to use than the keyboard itself.
For WoW most of my main abilitities, my interrupts, my CC, and my cds are bound to my Razer Naga Epic. I use the more forward keys for my common abilities and things I need to hit quickly (as it keeps the thumb at a more natural extension) and then more infrequently used abilities are closer to the back as you have to bend your thumb to use them.
Iām no expert but I do think if you go the wireless route you do have to be careful that you get a decent gaming mouse as I believe some do suffer from slight delays.
Persoanlly as far as keyboards are concerned I actually use a gamepad myself. Itās more erognomic and moulds better to the hand. You can pretty much bind it as a keyboard would be anyway but you have a bit more flexibility if you need it (I use two of the ājoystickā functions as ctrl and alt modifiers).
You can also setup macros for the buttons and I believe for different button presses etc if you want to delve deeper into it.
The one I currently own is a Razer Orbweaver. The downside to using a gamepad for so long though is that I now find a standard keyboard incredibly awkward and the buttons feel to be in the wrong place lol.
The G600 is amazing! The ring finger button is a game changer :). I would highly recommend it!
Wireless wonāt make much a different, it will simply be more expensive and you will have to worry about battery life.
Past that, I currently got a K70 rapidfire mk2 and I have loved it since I took it out of the box. I had created myself a custom lightning profile for WoW with my keybinds lit up in colours matching the magic school but lost that profile while reinstalling windows.
And as for the mouse, I just use a basic corsair harpoon.
I have to add, what are YOU looking for when looking in peripherals? Do you have anything in mind?
I use a Razer Naga cause having my entire rotation under my thumb is great. I know Razer gets alot of hate but Iāve never had an issue with my mouse in 6 years now.
As for keyboard I went with a Ducky One 2 SF cause Iām a big fan of the 65% keyboard layout, itās a nice small form factor which saves desk space and makes hitting keys easier. My old board was a Razer Blackwidow which worked beautifully for 5 years.
I would recommend these things without hesitation but I understand not everyone is into a bunch of mouse buttons or a smaller form factor keyboard. At the end of the day best thing to do is try to test some stuff and see what feels good to you. Easier said than done with all this Covid 19 stuff but that would be my best advice for sure
Never been a big fan of wireless stuff but I donāt think it would make much if any difference.
Iām a corsair person, personally. Been using their keyboard, mouse and headset for a couple of years now, and Iāve never wanted to use something else since.
To be honest, I could use a new keyboard.
Personal opinion. Never go wireless for anything other than your headset. Ensuring that youāre connected to your CPU will ensure your gaming is without complication.
Iāve always used duckyshine & corsair keyboards and have never had an issue. Only suggestion Iād firmly say is make it 10 keyless (unless you NEED a num pad, but its such unecessary waste of space imo) and donāt get razer.
For mice Iāve always really loved logitech. Iāve gone through tons of razers that I got on sale that broke instantly and really kind of dislike their products in general because of that.
MAX518 just got re-made which, the original was like THE mouse of the day. I had one and it lasted 7 years until I gave it to someone, no clue if theyāre still using it. Only downside is itās wired.
Logitechās wireless mice are really nice and they have different price points. I use the G900 and they released the G903 which is the same thing just more updated. It can be made to be left or right handed, or if you want 2 buttons on either side, it works that way too.
I bind my buttons with shift variants as well, so even with just one side with buttons, thatās 4 different spells on them. Combined with mouse wheel click, mouse wheel up, mouse wheel down and shift variants of those, I actually have a lack of abilities to fill up slots.
If youāre going to get razer though, seriously prepare yourself for a slap in the face.ā¢
Yeah same, almost feels like itās one of those things that are just ācool to hateā. Iāve been using Razer products since around 2006 and Iāve never had an issue.
Havenāt had a mouse die nor a keyboard nor gamepad. Iāve replaced my gamepad a couple of times but never due to mechanical issues, simply living in Australia where it never seems to drop below 30°C over the years the glue on the rest pad stretches and the pad moves slightly out of place.
Still 2 gamepads in like 14 years isnāt bad innings. Especially when they are still usable.
Thanks for all the feedback
