This is a wow-only problem. I have 3 records of it occurring from different people. While running or mounted, the mouse randomly turns you in a direction or spins your character. This often results in pulling multiple mobs or falling.
I noticed that it wasn’t only while moving during the quests: Runelocked Chest. While attempting to click on a colored rune, my mouse will zoom across the screen to another place and I’ll often click a different one than intended.
I’ve been experiencing this for a few patches, as well as a friend who complains about it often. My spouse is also having this issue and constantly gripes that their character is just turning all kinds of random directions.
This has not always been a problem and is only happening in WoW. No other programs, websites, games, etc.
Here’s an excerpt from me asking in Proudmoore:
[5] [120:Velýs]: question for the masses: For a few patches, have many other people been experiencing their mouse behaving erratically? Like your character turning like crazy or your mouse clicking something far off in another direction that you had it? Just in WoW?
[5] [120:Velýs]: before I submit this bug report because I’ve heard it from multiple people
[5] [Fh–]: it happens to me sometimes
[5] [At–]: Happens every once in a while
[5] [Ma–]: Are you on a laptop Velys?
[5] [120:Velýs]: nope
[W From] [120:Re–]: just in wow, yes
[5] [120:Velýs]: I’m trying to figure out what causes it because its isolated to wow
[5] [At–]: I like the random spinning of the toon
[5] [120:Al–]: Mine occasionally does, but i think thats because my arm ends up brushing against the mousepad
[5] [120:Al–]: (laptop)
[5] [M–]: Mine only does that if I forget to disable the touchpad on my laptop
[5] [N–]: turn f the touch pad
[5] [120:Velýs]: I don’t move my mouse or hit anything with it. just wondering because my friend and spouse experience the same thing all on desktops
[5] [Ae–]: mouse thing happens to me all the time
[5] [De–]: Ew. What?
[5] [Ae–]: there are some threads on it
Is there a fix for this? I’m unsure of what to search for other threads related to this, but it seems to be a pretty common issue.
