Mouse no longer working in 8.0

I have an old steel series WOW gaming mouse. I have used it for it years and am really used to it at this point. With a major patch, there is usually a hiccup where at least some functionality of the mouse (buttons) stops working, at least until I find a macro or work around. I have been unsuccessful in finding anything or making it work up to this point and was hoping anyone had a suggestion?

Thank you!
Hi! I believe I have the exact same mouse and I'm having the same issue. I've posted about it in the general discussion forum and now in the technical support forum. I hope this is just an oversight, I lean on mine pretty heavily.

We did that. It's not that the game isn't enabled for the WoW mouse to work, it's that our mouses are no longer being detected as WoW mouses. So this doesn't actually change it for us at all. The mouse is still not working as intended.

Thanks though!

Same here. I really hope they are able to provide a fix for this.
I just want to add that this is a problem I've read about on the European forums as well.

I've tried the commands

/console enableWoWMouse 1

and

/run SetCVar("enableWoWMouse", 1) DetectWowMouse()

Neither of those work. I've double checked the config.wtf file to make sure Set enableWowMouse "1" is in there.

When I log into a character it says "World of Warcraft Gaming Mouse could not be found. Re-enable to option in Interface options when you have one connected."

So this error message used to be there when the option to enable WoW mouse was interface options, since it hasn't been there in years, we've been using the console command, but now that is not working to detect and enable the mouse either.

Six of the extra buttons on my mouse are not responding. I'm so sad, I've been using this mouse for a long time and I only use it for World of Warcraft, it's made playing the game so much more enjoyable for me over the years.

It was working just before the patch went live.

I have a Logitech mouse and I am having the same issues. 5 out of the 9 buttons are not working in wow. Its very annoying and almost unplayable for me. You get so used to playing a certain way. Hopefully there will be a fix soon
Just chiming in to add that this issue is happening for us Mac users too. Same symptoms and none of the fixes above are working for us either. We already have a thread started over in the Mac Tech Forum...
Hopefully blizz can fix this and answer us here :(!
Here's hoping guys. I have been using this mouse for years and it's made the game leaps and bounds more enjoyable.
I found this from an older EU thread. Hope this works.

1) Open the battle.net launcher and on the top left click the drop down and go to settings, then click game settings,

2) Under World of Warcraft check the 'Additional command line arguments'. A box will appear and you should add the command '-console' (without the quotes) and use the Done option to save the settings

3) At this point you can open up World of Warcraft again, and enter the following command into the chat box:

/console enableWoWMouse 1

Depending on your mouse version, the game might not be able to detect the mouse. If it does not, you can try a second command to force the mouse detection to run:

/run SetCVar("enableWoWMouse", 1) DetectWowMouse()

Hi Tyrealle, thank you for trying to help, but I posted earlier in the thread that none of those commands are fixing the issue.

Another update from the European forums however has me smiling. A blue posted in this thread about 40 minutes ago that they have received several reports about this issue and are actively tracking it.

Here's hoping a fix is incoming.

Did you add the first part to the additional command line arguments? if you did then perhaps there is a much bigger problem at play :( Im so sorry,
Eeekk.

I just noticed that it's Also not recognizing my mouse buttons on my Corsair Glaive or the MMO mouse. :O

I will try my other one which is a Corsair Scimitar. This is not good.

Eeek! :\

No it's not good! I feel like this is impacting a large percentage of the playerbase, which makes me sad, but also makes me hopeful that it will be dealt with soon. :)
I posted this in a smaller thread earlier - it seems to be an issue with WOW not understanding keystrokes coming from the mouse correctly anymore -

I have a G700s mouse with all drivers up to date. I am seeing the same issue with WOW not reading the keystroke inputs from the mouse correctly. It is affecting my Logitech G13 gameboard also. For example - a G13 button that is set to send the keystroke of "1" used to work fine (and looks like it still does outside of WOW) but is now being read as "3" by WOW. It looks like it is affecting all of the keystrokes.

So with that said... This is clearly something they are going to need to address. I'm hoping soon!

I know I can technically play without using the extra buttons on my mouse, but I've grown so used to it and Marksmanship in 8.0 feels good even without the mouse binds, I feel like when I can get my mouse working again it'll play like a dream!

I just logged in and it appears that button keystroke mappings are working again.
so after some more testing it looks like the issue with my Logitech mouse and gamepad might be caused by the Logitech gaming software (where you set the key mappings) got disconnected from the WOW game application. It was choosing some random profile of key mappings instead of my WOW mappings. I forced it to use the WOW profile and now I am getting correct keystroke communication from mouse to game.
