Mouse Cursor jumps to top left corner of screen since 11.1.7

I have been having this issue since the patch dropped. I cleaned everything out, did all the basic trouble shooting steps, disabled addons, ect.

I have come to learn the problem seems to happen when too many button actions are happening at once when using the mouse and clicking. 4-5 button actions at once seem to cause it.

Examples:

  • Pressing W to run, holding shift, pressing spacebar, and clicking with one or both mouse buttons, all at the same time then quickly releasing them will make the cursor jump to the top left corner of the screen.
  • Double clicking both mouse buttons at the same time can cause it.
  • Holding right mouse button down, pressing W to run, A or D to strafe, while pressing shift, and pressing space bar, and clicking with the left mouse button.
  • Holding W and clicking both mouse buttons at the same time 4 times in a row will cause it almost every time

I have had to enable the option “Prevent cursor from leaving screen edge” because it would jump to the corner and end up off screen on my other monitor all the time.

It is preventing me from being able to really play the game in all honesty.

People on reddit and WoW bug reports forums have been having the same issue.

I know there have been mouse cursor bugs in the past for people, what has been the solution to that?

Top causes (in my opinion):

  • Debris in the mouse sensor
  • Failing mouse sensor/cable
  • Third-party overlays (especially Discord)
  • TouchPad incompatibilities
  • Peripheral interference (drawing tablets)

It’s unfortunately none of these. It only does this in WoW retail and only since the patch. No overlays, don’t have a touch pads or anything, mouse sensor clean.

Based on mouse cursor issues I tried looking up that people have had with wow in the past,
I am starting to think this is an issue where the mouse goes invisible during an action and instead of staying last location where it should when it comes back it jumps to the top left corner of the screen.
Previously people had issue where the mouse would jump to the center of the screen after an action, but I don’t know if they ever found a fix or maybe a cvar command for that.
