Mouse cursor jumping to top left corner of the screen since 11.1.7

So I have been having this issue since the patch dropped. I cleaned everything out, did all the basic trouble shooting steps, disabled addons, yadda yadda.

I have come to learn the problem seems to happen when too many button actions are happening at once when using the mouse and clicking. 4-5 button actions at once seem to cause it.

Examples:

  • Pressing W to run, holding shift, pressing spacebar, and clicking with one or both mouse buttons, all at the same time then quickly releasing them will make the cursor jump to the top left corner of the screen.

  • Double clicking both mouse buttons at the same time can cause it.

  • Holding right mouse button down, pressing W to run, A or D to strafe, while pressing shift, and pressing space bar, and clicking with the left mouse button.

  • Holding W and clicking both mouse buttons at the same time 4 times in a row will cause it almost every time

I have had to enable the option “Prevent cursor from leaving screen edge” because it would jump to the corner and end up off screen on my other monitor all the time.

This is a game breaking bug for me.

EDIT
Just spoke with others on a reddit thread who are having the same issue and know others also with the problem.

Same issue. Making it impossible to play, seeing it reported all over since 11.1.7 so it is not isolated. Horribly game breaking.

sounds like an external overlay problem.

except there is no overlay. Discord overlay is disabled and xbox gamebar overlay is disabled in windows, and this only does this in wow, no other game or on the desktop or app/program.

EDIT
Just talked to others about this on reddit who are also having the issue themselves and know others who are also having it.

UPDATE

I was given this as a list of things to try after putting in a ticket, but unfortunately they say this bug is not on the devs radar to fix.

  1. Open the Battle.net App, select World of Warcraft on the left, then click Options and select Show in Explorer
  2. Open the World of Warcraft game folder
  3. Right-click Wow.exe and select Properties
  4. Click the Compatibility tab
  5. Make sure Override high DPI scaling behavior is checked
  6. Select Application from the drop down and Apply the settings

Windows® 7 and Windows® 8

  1. Right-click on your desktop and select Screen Resolution.
  2. Click Make text and other items larger or smaller.
  3. Change the size to either Smaller or Medium. (Our games are not compatible with the Larger setting.)
  4. Select Apply.
  5. Restart your computer.

Windows® 10

Any of these steps may resolve the issue.

  • Mouse Settings
  1. Press Windows Key-Q to open the search menu.
  2. Search: Ease of Access Mouse.
  3. Under the Pointer Size section, select the first or second option.
  • Resolution Settings
    1. Right-click desktop and select Display Settings.
    2. Adjust the Change size of text… slider to the left.

If the above steps do not resolve the issue, try the following:

  1. Open the Battle.net desktop app, click the World of Warcraft icon on the left, and select Show in Explorer from the Options menu
  2. Open the World of Warcraft game folder
  3. Open the retail folder
  4. Open the WTF folder
  5. Open the Config.wtf file with the Notepad app.
  6. Add a line to the bottom with this text: SET gxCursor “0”
  7. Save and close the file.
