Prior to BfA I grinded out the ToT achievement pterrordax mount. Found out it shrank my character to like 1/3 of normal size and have never used it.
Just got the Shaman class mount and realized it shrank my Dark Iron Dwarf to 1/2 of normal size (or less) and now I’ll never use it. So there isn’t even a good shaman mount.
Is it so hard to design mounts that don’t require your character to be shrunk? What’s the point in designing a mount that requires this?
You can say it doesn’t matter, but then mounts don’t matter at all I guess. I’m not going to use a mount that shrinks my character when I could use 300 other ones. But for Shaman that leaves no class themed mount to use.
Not a bad idea actually. Been trying to think of a mount that will fit the upcoming patch. Guess that would fit both the Vale and Uldum (wind elementals there).
Not really. Like the parrot mount is the worst example. I’d rather actually be able to see my character than have it look like my character just transformed into a mechanical parrot.
It’s really ridiculous and stupid design. Just don’t even bother if that’s the best you can do.
I absolutely should look like an adult riding a kiddie ride if I get on a small mount. I want my hooves dragging the ground if I try to mount up on the Llothian Prowler! (I do not ride the Llothian Prowler, Pandaren cranes, or the Blood Elf not!chocobos as a Tauren because it makes me feel bad to commit pixelated animal abuse like that.)
That said, I absolutely agree that characters should not be shrunk down (or up) with a mount. But if things are going to be sized then mount should be sized to the character, not the other way around. (…Tiny gnome on a tiny mammoth!)
Well I don’t know who has it trademarked, but it’s fitting in this case. You put in the work to get the mount and then learn that it’s useless because your character shrinks. So it is a slap in the face.
I also hate the “mount shrinking the huMANoid” phenomenon. The wonderwing, the pterrodax, and just this weekend, I noticed that the shadowbarb drone and bee mounts also resize their riders to miniscule proportions. Truthfully, it pushes me away from using these mounts that look so great but irritate me too much to use them. Surely a compromise can be found.
Wow!! I pick a mount and ride it. I don’t care if my characters change sizes to fit it, nor would I care if the mount changed sizes to fit my character. I farm mounts to ride those particular mounts. Maybe check wowhead to see different races on the mount before deciding to put in a lot of time getting it. Would save a lot of frustration and wasted time.
Me? I’ll be farming only the ones I want to ride.
edit Actually you can go into your mount list, and see yourself on the mount before you get it. Not a bad idea, yes?
You can’t tell. You can preview on the mount collections thing but it doesn’t show the size of the mount and your character to scale. It’s bigger. For the shadowbarb, the mount and your character are both smaller than on the preview.
Aren’t all mounts the same size for all races? If that’s the case, then a mount used by a tauren and gnome would have to change something to make it look right, so the obvious thing would be to size the race to the mount.
