Help refresh my memory here, folks – can you use regular mounts in AQ or do they need to be the bug mounts that drop from trash?
I thought you were SOL until you got a bug drop but another person I’ve been talking to mentioned using a normal mount. Now I’m confused!

Only bugs, but if you go there on retail you can use any mount now. This is probably why the person you talked to got it wrong.
I’m not sure when it changed, but it was still only bugs when I went in TBC.

This isn’t completely correct. You can use a normal mount at the very start of the instance up until you enter the hive portions. Then its bug only. Hive portion starts right after the first boss.
You need the bug mount.
Their thinking of retail version of AQ where you can mount in AQ40 with any mount you posses.
AQ20 lets you use regular mounts the entire time so they could be thinking of that.
