Mountain Thane Fury warrior buffs

Hello. Mountain Thane currently has about a 0% pick raid in both Raid and High level M+ Keys. It clearly is drastically under tuned and needs some buffs. Please see items below.

Lightning Strikes: Also triggers from Bloodthirst.

Crashing Thunder: Causes your Bloodthirst Critical hits to deal Nature Damage instead of Physical.

Ground Current: Damage increased by 100% if it strikes only one target.

Thunder Blast: Each strike of Raging Blow has a 15% chance to trigger Thunder Blast.

Snap Induction: While Recklessness is active, chance to trigger Thunder Blast is increased by 100%.

Gathering Clouds: Also increases auto attack speed by 15%.

Burst of Power: Chance to trigger increased to 25%. Damage of the Empowered Bloodthirst increased by an additional 25%.

Avatar of the Storm: Now also grants Burst of Power.

Thank you for implementing these changes on the next ptr  I look forward to playing Mountain Thane and not losing 1/3 of my damage.

Honestly the main issues with Mountain Thane are that it has no real direction (for fury) and has too many conflicting abilities (for fury).

Easily fixed by 2 things. Having Rampage or Bloodthirst being the driver for thunderblasts instead of raging blow, leaving TC/Execute as procs too.
Have both Thunder Clap/Thunder Blast always do additional damage to your target and the same as it is now for every other target so it can bridge the gap in ST between it and slayer so you’ve got an option to even play it.

Or with the 3rd wildcard option.

Thunderclap Replaces Raging Blow (only if talented as Mountain Thane). While also getting all the bonuses of Raging Blow and interacting with all raging blow talents (all resets / increased dmg while enraged, all the trimmings).
This one is a wildcard because of one thing, you’d need to have WW back in your rotation to cleave BT/Rampage.

This variant ofc would have interactions with RA granting thunder blasts so it’s more deterministic as opposed to RNG for fury (can still have a sprinkle of the RNG proc too for b2b resets).
The only downside? You’ll be pressing thunderclap till your ears bleed (not that this is much of a downside honestly).

That would actually be so sick.

I played it while leveling. The big issue I had with it is, unlike prot, you just aren’t procing anything regularly. Even if you up your priority on raging blow, you’re not getting very many thunderblasts, so while your solution might help. It won’t fix the core issue of the lousy proc rate. That whole feature of the spec currently takes a back seat to your standard rotation. It is basically just a flashy sudden death proc that can also replace whirlwind in your rotation.

If I were to fix the proc rate I’d do straight up auto attacks so you aren’t constantly changing your rotation to fish for them. It might also make the haste enrage option in the tree a more desirable choice.

I think Blizzard should make this the higher sustained damage spec, but with not great burst, and slayer the higher burst lower sustained damage. Sadly it seems they are still trying to figure out what they want in general with the class.

It already pretty much replaces whirlwind. I think it fits better there besides.

I am having no issues with Mountain Thane myself. I’m also Single-Minded Fury, so “being the best” hasn’t been a thing I’ve cared about since WotLK. I’ve never used Thunderclap outside of being Protection, and now I am hitting it every time it’s up, because it is fun to do.

Also with almost nobody actually using Mountain Thane as Fury, because it sucks for Titan’s Grip, it’d be nice if they finally made it do better damage for SMF since we are the only ones that should be taking it in the first place.

I’ve said it before and I will say it again, they missed the mark on what should have been for the Warrior talents.

Mountain Thane should’ve been all about that 1h damage since Prot and Fury share that between them.

Slayer should’ve been all about that 2h damage since Fury and Arms share that as well.

Colossus should’ve been about 2H/Shield. It’s literally named Colossus, which screams “much larger weapon and heavy defense” to me.

So you wanna be Fury and like SMF? Go Mountain Thane (since that’s what they were in Warcraft 3), want to go TG? Go with Slayer since you are just trying to be an Arms Warrior but with 2 weapons anyway.
