It’s working wonderfully.
Anybody who complains about it is blowing hot air.

What is your point?
If anything that is even more reason why they should have kept their ability to WW.
I could certainly use a strider pet to do that but it’s not a pet I would ever take into combat - so I would be stopping to dismiss that pet and pull a new one. Then again, for all I know they’ve nerfed that ability along with the mount’s.
I thought the equipment was account wide, only the character i put it on can use it for now
It’s actually working fine. I like being able to walk on water with any mount.
You maybe see it a pack of 5 in war mode traveling on water. But that’s the most I’ve ever seen at one time
Honestly, I’m unsure how 90% of players could be on Striders when…
Only 50% of players even own them to begin with, and…
I rarely ever even see them. (But since I fail at gathering and I don’t use the “proper” routes and you can’t see them anywhere but on those “proper” gathering routes that the “professional” gatherers use while spending every second in game on the “proper” gathering routes where no one but other “professional” gatherers can be seen…phew! OMG… I see them now that my head is spinning!), and…
Practically everyone in the multitude of threads on this (save the “professional” gatherers, of course) say they also rarely see them,
I find your statement to be patently false.
Additionally… If your world can’t be “livened” based on what some other player chooses to run around on, that is a separate issue all together.
Hes lying or exaggerating and he knows it.
This is just a crap line to justify this crap move.
And the zombie knights are eating it up, as per usual.
Funny how that works.
Unlocking the slot is account wide. What you put in it isn’t.
Honestly if he’s sticking to only farming/gathering routes, who knows. It’s not something I do, so I wouldn’t see it the professional node huggers at work.
Even so, it’s very much of a “rock in their shoe” problem. I’m sure early real world farmers got tired of looking at the backside of the ox they used to plow fields… but they put up with it for generations.
any azerite gear that has resounding protection trait, solves the dazed issue w/o a barding
The funny thing is, I’ve seen more striders since the patch dropped than I have at any point in the game. And even then, it’s been like…three striders in Boralus and maybe half a dozen in Nazjatar.
It’s for future expansions. All your current mount equipment will be obsolete in the new zones so you can jump on yet another treadmill to grind out rep or mats for new equipment.
i’m fine by just gliding around as demon hunter and vengeful retreat & felrush through enemies
all hail doublejump
It’s fine, but only lasts until the absorb is used up.
Barding, No-daze equipment and tank spec supposedly give 100% protection.
But as long as you only get hit once or twice, resounding protection / demon skin / etc, are usually sufficient to make travel more pleasant.
I believe this is the truth. Considering that current mount equipment will require BFA materials, I fully expect in 9.0 that players will have to unlock new recipes for mount equipment that is gated behind rep grinds, or random drops.
This makes me realize that Blizzard didn’t do this just to make water strider owners angry or because they wanted mount diversity, they did it so they can implement this “fun and new” system so they can control players water walking etc. I’m wondering if water walking potions and elixirs will not work past level 70, etc.
The time gating will be out of this world… That’ll keep players locked from water walking and flying
I think most people who’ve been watching the pattern of Blizzard’s design decisions believe this is the goal. Everything they’ve implemented since WoD - first no flying at all, then Pathfinder gated behind rep and exploration achievements few bothered with prior to Pathfinder, then portal removal to make the world “feel bigger” - has been aimed at one thing: controlling the players’ ability to get where they want to go. Mount equipment is just the shiny thing they dangle in front of us to distract us from the removal of innate water walking.
9.0 mount equipment:
[Pommel of Shadows] - camouflages your mount making you harder to detect. (decreases agro range by 20%). Necessary to squeeze between mobs and obstacles.
[Stirrups of Readiness] - allows you to mount up while in combat (takes 2x as long), or 10% faster when not in combat. Necessary because you will be ‘stuck in comat’ all the time unless you can cast mage invisibility or hunter feign death.
[Itsy Bitsy Bridle] - Shrinks you and your mount by 50% so that you can fit through doors and tight spaces without having to manually dismount. Necessary because there’ll be paths with low trees that will block you all over the new zones.
[Van Degruff’s Insulated Hooves] - riding builds up an electrical charge over time that will shock and stun the next thing that dazes/dismounts you. Mutually assured dazing, because, well, you’re gonna get dazed a lot anyway, may as well retaliate in kind.
[Khadgar’s Dazzling Aura] - does nothing except add fancy special effects when you ride. Fel, arcane, fire, frost, water, dust, holy light, depending on the mount being used.
No more water walking, no more speed, no more no-daze or safe-fall. Just a new set of more-necessary-than-ever bandaids for new obstacles.
