Mount equipment *sigh*

This is where Blizzard spends their time and effort, now: breaking things so they can “fix” them, rather than designing a better game.

Whether people want to admit it or not, the water strider nerf, like Pathfinder, like the portal removal, is just one more step in Blizzard’s march toward a completely on-rails game, one in which we go where they want, when they want, at the speed they want.

When they’ve finally reached their goal, please remember to keep your arms and legs inside the vehicle at all times.

If you hate fishing as much as I do… and got it that way because it was the ONLY way to get it…

then yes. It was >>GRIND<<. But it had been worth it until Blizzard invalidated it with this garbage change.

If you hated fishing for the Azure Waterstrider, you would have found the Crimson even more of a grind. That’s why I’m amused.

The Azure strider was ez mode.

Oh I did. I did.

But I did it anyway because “Had to have ALL the mounts!” … and the grind for Mimiron’s Head was still 70+ attempts in without success.

Crimson Strider was what finally got me over the hurdle to my next “Mountacular” reward mount.

“Enhance your mount with mount equipment”

(I find it incredibly hilarious how the forums censor prevents you from using one of their own emojis “fu”)

OMFG what happened to you?

Yeah. I’m “enhancing” it right back the way it belongs.

And while the attempt at explaining why the Water Strider needed it is a great step in the right direction… they need to work on it. Still, I appreciate the attempt very much.

Yes you will.

If by “yes you will” you mean “yes you will have to repurchase something for all your alts, or if you ever decide to change to a different kind of equipment, that you’ve had forever on all of them for free because you already earned it 6+ years ago”, then you would be absolutely correct.

Your link is useless as I’ve already read it and seen it on PTR. Thanks, though.

Not correct.
On the PTR only characters level 100 and over had equipment sent to them.
Nothing under level 100 could get free equipment.

The same has carried over to live.

Sixty-five of my toons have no free water-walking equipment.

What if we want water walking but also want to ride a mount we actually like.

you got boned bigtime…

Then mount equipment and water walking elixirs are there for you, and nobody wants to take that away from you.

We would simply prefer they hadn’t broken an innate ability on one mount to do it.

You could do that anyway with water walking elixirs. The only difference is the mount equipment isn’t on a 10 minute timer. Before I had my strider I was always running across the water on my celestial steed.

Well it’s not the type of player that’s willing to dedicate a lot of their time to acquire something like that, knowing it can just be removed on a whim.

Well, casuals would like a water walking mount. Great change they added! Just saw something about it today, so pumped I can finally have water walking on my hunt Druid mage at … good luck in all your future endeavors and enjoy my big tundra walking blissfully across the lakes!

Water in the new areas is full of mobs which will daze you and break your water-walking. On a Tundra Mammoth it’s impossible to jump back to the surface and regain water walking while in the water. So I look forward to watching your big tundra slowly floundering toward land surrounded by mobs nipping your knees and biting your backside.

Enjoy the new equipment.

I think it’s a good thing for them to add the mount equipment. They just shouldn’t have removed an ability from something players spent so much time working to get.

If they would have left the ability on the strider (just don’t allow it to be altered by the equipment) it would have made a HUGE difference to a lot of players.

Clearly you missed something then because like I originally said youll get one for free. You said you wouldnt. If you want to replace it is another story. I never mentioned that. Thanks though

I didn’t get one for free, and nor did 64 of my alts, despite owning both striders.

And so it begins.
