After receiving my Angler’s Water Striders in the mail I hastily threw them on one of my mounts to test them out. Cool stuff!
Imagine my horror when I could not remove them. Why the HELL would you make them permanent? Now I am stuck with them on a mount I didn’t actually want them on. Thanks.
Replace it with a different mount equipment.

No, I want the Angler’s Water Striders equipment back so I can put it on a different mount. I was not aware that they were a ‘one-use item’.
They work for every mount you use, not just the one.
imagine the sheer horror of being able to waterwalk on only one mount. I agree that we should return to the pre 8.2 state of only being able to water walk on one mount to correct this injustice.

I misunderstood what he was asking, just someone that didn’t test it or read how they worked. I personally hate the waterstrider as it’s fugly and this system is even better, gives you the choice to use what you want instead of being forced to used something you don’t.

It’s crazy and still an issue in 2024, well almost 2025… I worked so hard to get the “Angler’s Water Striders” mount and it was turned into an equipment item that I didn’t know couldn’t be unequiped or I would have chosen more carefully as to who to use it on… So when I delete an old toon, it goes with it instead of moving it to another character or sharing it automatically for all our heroes.

I’m going to have to strongly disagree with you. Recent returning player trying to figure out a plausible rationale to Blizz’s decision to do something so moronic and frustrating. Whether it’s 5 or 20 years ago… If this post wasn’t meant to be used then it should be locked…

Because they listened to the very small minority who complained too many people were on water strider mounts and it “ruined their immersion.”
That’s it.
Blizzard even stated this when they explained why they did it. Which they got called out for at the time because the real mount most people were sick of seeing was the Sky Golem, and they didn’t really solve that until they added Dragonriding.
The forum CoC says not to necro. Pretty much every other forum auto-locks after like 3 months of inactivity but not US General Discussion and none of us know why.
