A fairly small complaint here but something that i feel like could be really cool.
Talking with others who feel like the game is not engaging and aren’t excited for the warfront mounts now, because getting them was too easy…
Well thats silly isn’t it, Blizzard are basically giving us 12 free new mounts all you gotta do is kill some mobs, just like on Argus… yeah! its… great? wait IS IT?
You know which mounts i have the best memories of?
1/100, or 1/2000 mounts, World boss mounts are epic… they’re rare which makes them so much cooler, Is oondsta’s mount better looking than any of the other direhorns? god no, its gross imo but its the only one on my favorites.
Sha, well being black is cool… but there are other heavenly that look pretty mint also…
Galleon… reskin… Ruhkmar is now a reskin…
But they’re all STILL EPIC!
Even Nalak which is the last i still need feels epic to chase after…
Ok, ok who am i to talk about mounts?
Well i used to raid back in TBC/Wrath but the game really felt bad after Trial of the crusader heroic forced a guild transfer as Blizzard weren’t willing to fix server issues on an Oceanic server, about 30-40% of our guild at random would disconnect during the fights and you could wing normal with people dc’ing all over the place during heroic progress it was a nightmare and put us weeks behind, That killed raiding for me, and i didn’t return until the end of Warlords.
Where i picked up mount collecting… and i’ve systematicly got all the “Rare mounts” between classic and i’m now in warlords for blackhand (and panda for nalak) then i’ll only have a couple in legion before i have to play retail… noooo ha.
And the mounts i got easily i forgot unless they looked cool… even then it was meh… but the mounts i had to put decent time into 1863 attempts for sha made the heavenly oynx feel rewarding, it feels as good to me as my black proto i earnt.
And i think that is the point by trying to make these new warfront mounts easily obtainable they are missing out on years of content for some people, i’ve run into loads of people camping mounts, visit Nalak on isle of thunder on the active american realms if you aren’t quick you will miss him spawning because he is surrounded by people!
I think each release of mounts blizzard should consider making one a 1/2000 mount, a really cool one worthy of the grind, and a couple 1/100 or similar… having them on rare mobs that repop every couple of weeks 1/100 would be fine, and putting a 1/2000 mount from warfronts into another bit of content would be great also.
I also believe there should be a mount similar to the timewalking mount for MYTHIC/mythic plus, a 1/2000 or 1/3000 mount in mythic plus would be really cool alongside the dungeon drops, maybe you could even have it at a lower drop chance the higher the key you do, 1/4000 for mythic 0, 1/3000 for mythic 5, 1/2000 for mythic 10… etc but i wouldn’t make it a lower than a 1/100 nightbane really suffers from that… it was a cool idea but making him a 1/100 farm would’ve put the value of the mount much higher.
This kind of follows the “rng for cool stuff” but these mounts are 100% farmable if you put in the effort, and being dumped 100 free mounts per expansion doesn’t make them feel very good… even in the style of Argent tournament would be better, give you a token you need 500 of each time you complete a world quest and pick a mount would feel somewhat better than freebies.
I do understand some people play with only one character and these mounts are “already hard to get” but doesn’t that make it so much more worthwhile when you finally get one?
I’d also love to open up the discussion about how pve mounts are “for everyone” but pvp mounts get locked into “current pvp” but sigh
I’ll collect all the mounts i can because i am inclined to do that, but if we can get some of these changed to be lower drop chances (which is really weird isn’t it??) i feel like it’ll produce gameplay for an extended period.
