Here is the deal, maybe you can help.

We got a new achievement two weeks ago to collect 500 mounts. These need to be “usable” mounts and that is the problem.

Our UI posts our total, well over 500, but that does not help. Tracking the achievement is the only way and it might say 490/500.

The problem that I’m posting is that we have no way to know what is “usable”. How to make that counter go up.

Three examples:
Made a Leatherworking mount, it did not count.
Made four ZM Proto mounts, two counted.
Bought a Timeless mount with 5000 coins, it did not count.

Collecting is fine, some grind is expected. Going for an achievement with zero idea of what will count sucks. If the mounts could be flagged “usable” it would make a difference, I think.

There must be some rule. I was surprised that the Timeless mount didn’t count, I thought all four ZM mounts should have counted and the profession one – do all of the profession mounts not count?

I think the design, achievement, UI; all of it when it comes to counting is bad work.

These counted but mount counting is screwed up right now.

Go to Secret’s Discord and use their bot. It’s the only way to see your real count.

login to every character and see if the counts goes up. If I learn a mount on my hunter the count will not go up until I login into my pally who has the most mounts.

This also means to get the highest count, one needs to designate a character with the most class-specific mounts (I also use a pally) and double professions with profession-specific mounts (I use eng / tailoring) as the mount counter.

That doesn’t matter anymore. It was fixed in Legion or BfA.

Interesting - so then it may just be buggy, but I still noticed counts going up differently / higher on certain characters.

I’ll have to check out the Secret Discord.

I do agree OP that the UI needs to better show what counts (both as in currently counted as well as which unknowns would add a +1).

So if the counting is screwed then that means the ability to earn the achievements are screwed too?

I’m sorry it’s hard for me to answer that because I’ve had over 400 since Legion so I haven’t seen the achievement count problems, just overall total problems.

All I can tell you is Secrets Discord will give you the most accurate count.

Thanks for that link… I took a quick look and will spend some time this evening trying to figure it out… I’m under the 500 but it would be nice to know where I’m actually at.

This is helpful, much thanks.
The problem is two-fold; getting a good count but also blowing currency on mounts that are not “usable” with no fore-knowledge.

Total mounts listed on my hunter is 531 but achievement is only giving credit for 489. That’s some bullcrap imo but whatever. :confused: :roll_eyes:

All mounts count as one except the ones that have a faction duplicate (like the original vendor mounts) and original class mounts.

Even the Legion class hall mounts count as a +1 for your total count, with a total of like 22 or 23. Confirmed that in Legion and they never fixed it.

Isn’t Paladin the highest potential for mounts due to the Argent Charger?

It just counts for all your toons now. Can’t use it on all your toons my count is 612 on my paladin and hunter.

So when I get new mounts, The tracker never goes up till I log onto my paladin. I guess he has “more mounts” than my other characters do. I believe its cause of the blood elf paladin mount and the argent tournement paladin mount which is to that class specifically. So he “has more” mounts than my other characters do. It never happens when I log onto my Dark Iron paladin. Just my blood elf.

the mount achievement has counting problem mine says 381 400 but if i tick the tracker (the small box) it will say 385 /400 (where the quests info is under the map when tracked)

this toon says its lvl63 but it is lvl70 is the forums not updating ? or it could be a page error?

My mount count when looking at the 500 mount achievement is 30 lower than what I really have.
It’s messed up definitely.

get the mount addon it will show you total mounts and character/usable mounts so you can see how many you actually have on said character
