Blizzard really needs to consider removing cast time for mounts. In the long run of things, this really feels unnecessary. A minor annoyance for no reason.
I do main druid from time to time, so i understand that druid mains might feel like one of their best class features is being taken away from them, but i do genuinely believe that this is going to improve the game play experience for the entire player base.
Those special animations for summoning mounts last like 2 seconds, i feel like its not worth forcing the entire player base to sit through those 2 second animations like 100 times a day.
combat prevents mounts from being summoned? how is this 2 second cast going to make any difference?
They can simply extend the duration it takes to get out of combat by 2 seconds?> this way it wouldnât affect the players in the open world that are just farming with pvp off.
Just remove combat restriction from mounting. Itâs archaic and serves a pseudo-purpose when you factor in all the mobility creep in the game over the last decade. Would also fix the 20 year old dilemma of pet classes being unable to mount as liberally as all other classes.
So vanish, bleed/dot removal, immunities, and shadowmeld surely are not in the game? Instant cast broom, druid form, and various items that launch you away.
Itâs a PVP thing. The reason I know is because Heroes of the Storm has it and I literally just played it this morning and Johanna and Yrel both have instant mount talents and they are absolutely busted.
WoW has a lot of PVP stuff holding it back, itâs just that Blizzzard doesnât bring it up. They hide how they dev the game.
I do think Blizzard underestimates how annoying all these 2-3 second casts are from using quest items to mounting up, to waiting on vigor etc etc.
I guarantee some bean counter is tallying up all the seconds they wasted, and how that contributes over time into making it take longer for you to complete your seasonal goals⌠and how over time that could equal cutting into your daily play time enough times to eventually milk a couple extra days out of you, which could mean an extra monthly sub.

Agreed, I wouldnât even care if when the game considers my character âin combatâ the cast time was increased, just as long as I can always mount if Iâm not taking actual damage.
As for PVP, thatâs called warmode - they can disable mounts for all I care in warmode, that game mode should never have ANY effect on the base game mode.
Oh and for all the âfeign / vanish / shadowmeldâ types, not every class has these abilities nor do all these abilities always work when stuck in combat.

What purpose would unlocks like being able to gather while mounted have at that point?
There would essentially be no point in that existing anymore. If mounting is instant then no time is lost for being dismounted to gather. So youâre not just asking for âlemme mount instantlyâ but also a redesign of the gathering profession unlocks.
