Most Stereotypical Class/Race combinations?

Or rather, what is the class you immediately associate with a given race? Not necessarily by observances in the player-base, but what class feels the most archetypal based on racial themes, commonness in the lore, etc. This is the Story Forums, after all.

Alliance Allied Race Horde Allied Race
Human Paladin Kul Tiran Warrior Orc Warrior Mag'har Shaman
Dwarf Warrior Dark Iron Shaman Undead Warlock
Night Elf Druid Nightborne Mage Tauren Druid Highmountain Shaman
Gnome Rogue Mechagnome Hunter Troll Hunter Zandalari Priest
Draenei Paladin Lightforged Paladin Blood Elf Mage Void Elf S. Priest
Worgen Hunter Goblin Rogue Vulpera Rogue
Pandaren Monk Pandaren Monk

It’s a toss-up for some of them, for me. Goblin Hunter was also very close because the use of exploding traps, guns, and mechanical pets feels very “gobliny” but rogue won out because of the prevalence of sneakier goblins.

You can break it down further into gender, if you like. Example being Male Tauren Warrior feels more common than Female Tauren Druid.

Edit: Changed Velf to Shadow Priest because I kinda forgot they existed for a second.

I’d give (shadow) priest to void elves, but otherwise with you on all counts. Maybe warrior for Highmountain too.

I agree for the most part with your list. Gnome/mechagnome/goblin/vulpera don’t really have any kind of class that really resounds, so while the classes you’ve listed for them are as close as they probably can be, it still feels very off.

I disagree with troll, undead and void elf. Trolls because Darkspear culture is so varied, there is no explicit class that sticks out. If I had to choose, it’d be shaman. Undead doesn’t really have any staple class, either, and I’m not sure why you picked warlock. If I was forced to pick, I’d choose mage, but it’d be a reluctant answer. Void elves are just weird: none of their available classes really match as well as other races’. One can be tempted to say (shadow) priest, but that’s lame. I’d put theirs as mage, since realistically, that’s what most of them were before turning into void elves.

I would say Shaman comes to mind with Tauren. Druidism as a practice is pretty new for them, but communing with the Earth Mother and living with the elements is an ancient thing for them

I’d probably change Dark Iron to Mage (Fire, specifically), since they’ve always been the more sorcerous clan. And Void Elf to Priest (Shadow). I don’t think I’ve ever even seen a Void Elf Warlock NPC.

My list feels kinda boring now that I think about it. There’s a few where I just didn’t immediately associate a class at all so I just stuck the first thing that actually came to mind instead. I also kinda passively think of warrior as the trash mob of class options, which isn’t much better than nothing at all.

Human warrior
Dwarf hunter
Night elf hunter
Gnome Nothing (Engineering)
Draenei Paladin
Worgen Nothing (Body Horror)
Kul Tiran Warrior
Dark Iron Nothing (Slavedrivers)
Void Elf (Shadow) Priest
Mechagnome Nothing (Engineering)
LFD Paladin
Pandaren Monk
Orc Warrior
Undead Warlock
Tauren Shaman
Troll Hunter
Blood Elf Mage
Goblin Nothing (Money)
Mag’har Warrior
Highmountain Nothing (Farmers and birds)
Zandalari Priest (Nominally)
Nightborne Mage
Vulpera Rogue

Personally, I went with Hunter for troll because in addition to having a racial that gives them an explicit bonus to XP for killing beasts in particular, it feels the nearest to the more archetypal Shadow Hunter than most other classes available to Troll.

Forbidden magic feels like their shtick. It was a toss-up between warlock and rogue (because murder and poisons). Exemplified by the WoW vanilla and BC cinematics where the undead character featured is a warlock.
