Long time lurker on the forums and posted a handful of times over the 14+ years i have played. I have noticed a lot of trends over the years for new playable races and people complaining about some that were added like Vulpera or Pandas and ones that were added like Blood Elves and Worgen ( that people liked abeit the wrong faction) and some that has yet to be added like Naga and Ogres.
the most requested races i remember for each xpac.
Pre BC i know Naga, Elves and Ogres were always wanted to be playable and it seems in some shape or form to this day all 3 are still requested to be playable.
Burning Crusade i know Etheral race was highly requested to be playable along with Maghar, on top of the 3 already up above.
WotLK, i know Taunka, Vyrkul and various types of Undead, Trolls, Mecha races like dwarves and gnomes were also popular.
I didn’t play during Cata so i have no idea what was wanted playable back then.
Since MoP mostly Subraces and the ones mentioned above were highly requested.
Some reasons these races were not added blizzard stated they didn’t have the Tech to it e.g the Naga or they didn’t know how to do Female versions the right way like Ogres. Is there any ones that missed other then Cata? I would like to know what was requested during cata to be playable.

The forums don’t represent the majority, just the vocal minority.
Haven’t you noticed it’s the same few dozen people on here?

Did you mention high elf in your post at all? It seems to be every other thread on the forums.
WIldhammer and Dragonmaw should have been the first allied races.

Dwarves and orcs with tatoos count as new races sadly. So why not.
Horde should get Naz water goblins. Alliance should get a feline equivalent of Vulpera to ne fair.
Undead should get undead elves. Where else are the NEs killed by the horde gonna go. I know this doesn’t really make sense. You could also give them a Sylvanis type. Elf based and not so bony, but with NZoth corruption from the current story.
Worgen need the best possible AR to keep alliance in the game. Ideally dragon aspect. Elf based, but can go dragon form in somewhat large cooldown. Horde would cry, so could have wargen teach some Naga to embrace their elven roots and shift back and forth like worgen can. That could be it or a larger feline AR more like wargen.
Most requested? Make two quest lines for void elves and blood elves to lose their void and fel influence and become high elves. High elves have generally remained neutral, so I can see some going to each camp. Horde don’t deserve them, but to avoid the tears, perhaps let them. In addition to the quests, require something crazy like loremaster to also be required. I don’t want to see very many of them in game.
Not really. The vast majority of the HEs have sided with the Alliance. Pretty much any time they’re involved they’re with the Alliance opposite BEs. For example, look at Dal and the Isle of Thunder.
I agree. The only reason to compromise is because horde and developers constantly make arguments to redirect the simple lore facts. If a neutral high elf race can be either faction, this possibly could shut down some distractions and perhaps benefit the alliance more than the horde. Personally, I prefer void elves. I would rather see high elves on alliance, but don’t want give up a cool AR to get it.
The problem with adding new races is that they have to make sense with the story, according to Blizz. So we won’t be seeing stuff like Naga, Ogres, or Arakkoa in Shadowlands. And unfortunately, we don’t know when we will finally get Ogres.
If we do get more races in Shadowlands, they’ll be from the Shadowlands.
