I was thinking the most obvious is Demonology, but who knows these days? I’m open to any spec, I just want a fun solo experience until I buy DF later in this week and then get into endgame with it. Thanks all!
See a ton of Demo locks, personally I have a thing for Destruction myself.
Thanks for the reply! I’ll consider both. I tried Affliction many, many times back in (Mists or WoD, not sure) anyway disliked it, and never tried it since. However the two specs you listed, sound fun: Thanks! I’ll give Destruction some more thought!
Honestly the best advice I can give is to try all three and see which one clicks. Like Folks have told me that Fire Mage is absolute garbage and you’d have to be brain dead to spec into it this expansion but for some reason I just enjoy using it. Having those Hot-Streaks pop off and either Pyroblasting or Flamestriking is a good feeling for me. Not that I dislike the other two specs. Just, Fire fits more with my Blood Elf Mage.
Demo and destro are both fun, aff is a bit boring.
But it’s retail, so you can freely swap between to try both
Thanks, its really good to hear someone encouraging this, back when I played a lot of “retail” or w/e I’m supposed to call it, hehe. Most did not want anything but “the best” if there is really such. As classic player, I find the best depends on the player. shrugs not saying that true, but I still believe in that attitude.
This is the correct answer.
That is true, although I’m gonna try to do my best to stick it out with whatever I choose for a good while, else I may never know. =)
That’s still pretty true these days as well. but like you said, the Best depends on the player, not the spec.
When I play a pure DPS, I tend to think of it less as I play a spec, and more like I play a class.
In Sepulchur as a mage, you had Fire fights, Frost fights, and an Arcane fight, so I ended up playing all 3.
And Kaznarok is right, the better player on the theoretically worse spec will out-perform the worse player on the theoretically better spec.
That is a good way to think. That said, was there one that stood out, or still does, to you?
For me personally, it’s demo.
Destro can be better during infernal and with a lot of haste, but most of the time demo.
Thanks! Seems I should either try or rather try both Destro or Demo. And eventually Afflic. Like I said though I want to try one for a while, as I find a lot of people (me included) give up on “a” spec easy and early.
By all means try out aff too. I just find that it’s too low pace for my likeing
Though you gotta admit there is a certain pleasure in dotting up legion of mobs and watching them all explode in shadowy fire.
From what I remember it was a total “dot” spec. Again though I cannot be certain when I tried that spec heavily, its been a while though. Although I’m sure every spec has changed majorly since I was an avid Warlock. =-)
Warlock is a very meh class, not that fun to what it can really be but I haven’t minded playing on my demonology warlock. I don’t care for the slow affliction style or the [visually annoying] destro.
It doesn’t hurt to try both, doesn’t take long to realize what isn’t enjoyable for you.
Just noticed that you will be leveling for a bit: don’t write off a spec because it doesn’t play well at level 20.
some specs don’t really come into their own until the late level 50s.
Destro is boring. Demo all the way.
Agreed. I’m just wondering if this new talent tree(s) will be like classic. Like, you may have to wait 10-15 levels to get something really good/FUN. I’m hoping so, makes you want to keep trying to get better, AND have fun.
