Frost Mage is easy when you are just doing damage. As in, the damage rotation is not hard. The skill gap between a good and a bad Mage will show in an actual game though.
Using your defensives, utility, and mobility well can be hard to learn for players that never really played Mage. Especially players used to playing melee. A new Mage will be pretty awful at kiting if they don’t have a feel for the class. Kiting is what is going to keep you alive above all else. (Well, before you have to use an Ice Block of course).
Timing your Blink/Shimmers against enemy mobility, timing your Alter Time against giant damage and canceling the aura if you are healed so you don’t grief your HP and healer, planning ahead of time how you will CC the enemy and looking for moments where the perfect sheep will close out a game. Some players find kiting annoying and would rather just face-tank and DPS, hence the Warrior population.
If you can kite effectively on a Mage, and you don’t mind doing it/it’s second nature, then yes, you’ll have fun. If you do not like this style of play, then no, you will not really like it.

it’s hard to master for sure, and I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re mainly playing shuffle. For blitz and coordinated 3s I think it’s one of the strongest specs you can play though.
For shuffle it’s mid af imo. Not bad by any means, but most of what you’ll queue into will delete you while laughing at your damage (e.g., hunters, ele, dev, priests, ret), and your polys will rarely stick.
It’s still the best mage spec for shuffle by far, but with the current meta of shuffle, you’re just going to get spam-purged and trained into the dirt most lobbies, and there is largely nothing you can do about it.
You will occasionally get free 5-6 win lobbies when you win the lottery and get lobbies without purges, but those are very few and far between.

MM hunter is by far the strongest, easiest and best overall to learn and have fun with.
Playing a caster is only fun if you’re good

mage is the strongest shuffle ranged dps for sure(if you are good at it)
Realistically tho for the average player bm hunter would be the best. You don’t even need to land traps on healer to win just attack and don’t die and ur 2400

So sick of people acting like mm isnt a caster as well.
It is pretty much. The difference is you don’t have to deal with being kicked. Which like it or not does make the spec easier to get your damage off provided you kite well.

nerfed i did try out BM hunter its hilariously good sucks in bgs though
I’m having a lot of fun playing Arms warrior. Only been playing arena for about 2 weeks and I’m almost 2100cr. Seems too easy and does unhealable damage
