What are the most depressing music/songs in your opinion?
Mine for music (genres) would be country music. It is the same dang themes, breaking up with girlfriend, losing their cars, and having nostalgic feelings of the good ol’ days.
For songs it would be 1980’s and 2000’s music, particularly 2000’s alternative rock songs by The Fray and Snow Patrol. I hated those songs and I especially hated “Complicated” by Avril Lavenge.
What are yours?

Pink Floyd has some really depressing songs. Especially from the album The Wall.

The closing lyrics of Pearl Jam’s Black, and the way Eddie Vedder sings them, always moves me. Hurts especially if you’ve experienced those feelings.
I know someday you’ll have a beautiful life
I know you’ll be a star
In somebody else’s sky
But why
Why
Why can’t it be
Why can’t it be mine
For me personally it’s Purple Mountains, by David Berman. He hung himself a few weeks after the album was released. Silver Jews were one of my favorite bands growing up, so this one really hurt
“Tears in Heaven” - Eric Clapton
pretty sad song, I believe he wrote it for his dying son and it was the song they played at the funeral of the kids of the Columbine school massacre. That song always gets to me
another sad one imo is “Right here Waiting” - Richard Marx
