What are you even on about? DF literally has the most to do outside of Raids, M+ and PvP. More quests, more scenarios, more world bosses, more open world group content, more detailed professions…
There’s more end game for the solo player than any previous expansion and it’s all alt-friendly.
Draenor Garrisons were the all time low, in my opinion.
It’s not that they were a bad idea. It’s just that they were drastically over-utilized as a daily hub.
Mythic + is also incredibly boring after a few weeks. You’re doing the same thing eight or more times per week to no end. At thirty minutes a pop, that’s a lot of time invested to hit a vault requirement.
Raids are kind of boring now. There’s more time spent forming the raid group and reforming than there is actually attacking enemies. Having to run back to your corpse after you die. Making your way back to the boss. Making sure that everyone has their buffs active. These things are overrated.
Completely agree, which is why I don’t do them. DF Open World content is much more fun, the group scenarios are fast and drama-free, the questing (Campaign & so many side quests) are interesting, and professions are far more interesting now. And the only time I raid anymore is if I want some specific item or it’s Timewalking.
I think part of it was that back then (circa the WoD era) Blizzard still had a good deal of “residual trust” among the community from back in the golden age - and there were also no major scandals at the time. 2014 isn’t very far off from 2010, when Blizzard was at it’s “peak”-tier
But fast forward to 2021(ish) and they had lost a lot of credibility/trust with the community with the combination of scandals/bad press and also the brutal content droughts (especially) of SL, so a good number of people that were bored unsubbed and didn’t come back
