Mortal Kombat was so BAD

I haven’t felt like watching a movie has wasted my time in a long time. This new Mortal Kombat movie was terrible. All it was is just a giant fan service movie but with nothing to back it up. The fight scenes were…okay at best. CGI was awful, the costumes were all bulky and strange looking, they made the whole movie about everyone finding their “Arcana” when it should have been about going to some alien dimension and duking it out.

I knew it wasn’t going to be good. But I was hoping for a guilty pleasure movie at least. But my god, that movie was so off the mark in my opinion.

so, just like the first one?

(i did like the first one at the time tho)

I liked the first one too lmao. That movie is actually fun to watch. Its cheesy, fit the times, and it was cool, what a guilty pleasure should be. This one just…nah.

Only good thing about any of the movies was Christopher lambert as rayden. Just because highlander.

Other than that, like most game movies, if you go in expecting anything good you’re in for a disappointing time.

I dug it. Kinda wish we had Johnny Cage instead of that one dude. I’m bad with names. The audience stand in guy.

Hope it does well enough for more films. Because this was a pretty decent start to the story.

they didn’t add Johnny Cage because it be too white for this film.

I actually have to disagree. I found the movie to be much more enjoyable than the original. The character Kano and his actor did a wonderful job of providing some really enjoyable moments and humor to the movie as well. I will admit though that some of the “villains” as you will were poorly used while others were too quickly killed off. Especially Goro and Reptile. That said I still give it a solid 3.5 stars out of 5. It was worth the watch and I’d watch it again.

I was tempted to go see it, but decided to wait for it on a streaming service instead. Mostly because rubber goro in the trailer. He looked like a four armed blow up doll.

Didn’t they make Kano Australian? Kinda kills the character for me.

That’s because they’re setting up for a sequel.

I thought the movie was fun and enjoyed it for the most part. I wasn’t expecting much from a movie about a small group of fighters defending the Earth from alien invaders by participating in a MMA match.

Aussie or New Zealander, one of the two. I personally didn’t mind the change, the personality he had really fit the character well. And the movie is already on a streaming service, I watched it on HBO Max.

Ditto. I’m really digging HBO Max.

Btw, don’t watch Those Who Wish Me Dead. It sucked and not in a “yeah it’s a bad movie but it was still fun” kind of way like Mortal Combat and Godzilla. They have a part where the two stars are chased by lightening that’s trying to get them.

I really liked it. It was really made for the modern audience and it works. I watched for the fighting, brutal deaths etc. and got it. Some decisions were odd. The new character seems to have come out of nowhere, not related to game despite it being taken from latest series, and his power is a literal plot armor. Among other things, it was a good movie imo

Oh yeah, it wasn’t great at all. But I totally enjoyed it in all it’s terribleness! When you are going to watch a Mortal Kombat movie, you should be going in to it KNOWING it’s going to be fairly bad. I’ve yet to see one that was great.

But special effects were fun, albeit a little squirrely, and the story line was fun in it’s own way.

It’s a solid B movie, not even close to B+. But I found it enjoyable anyways.

It is obvious, it is not bad, but it will not be worse as Anhilitations was, that happens when you change the color of Mileena and supposedly you would kill Jhonny Cage for his stupid Warner tendencies to his forced inclusion.

Let’s hope the Ryan Reynolds joke as Jhonny Cage comes true for the sequel and helps improve one of the last hopes for video game-based movies.

Wait until you watch Army Of The Dead. A two and a half hour movie that should have been 90 minutes. Bored outta my mind.

Mortal Kombat is like Lawrence Of Arabia to this.

For real? I was actually looking forward to this one

Hey, you’ll prolly like it. I just found it dragged on.

Look, it’s definitely not an A list movie. But as I stated above, I think it was pretty fun for a solid B movie. The animations for when people were killed actually made me laugh because they were JUST LIKE THE VIDEO GAME!!!

I say watch it. If you have HBO max, atch there so you can save a few bucks.

Personally I enjoyed the movie. For a zombie movie you know exactly what you’re getting into and it was fun. I mean it’s no 28 Days Later, but it’s certainly enjoyable.

So you thought Mortal Kombat was a … Fatality?

I thought it ranked up there with the 1995 original. Yes, CGI fight scenes a little cheezy, but held to the story line of the competing realms and ancestries. Due to the violence it got an R rating. Way better than the Mortal Kombat sequel as well. Even with the one extremely violent fatality death scene.

I gave it a props for keeping up with the story line. Maybe because of the R rating and that the fact kids under 18 could not watch the gory film? The original was only a PG 13. The newest one was way more violent.
