God damned Pinkertons!

You don’t have to answer the door if the police show up.

You certainly don’t have to answer the door if random private security rent-a-cops show up… in fact you can call the police to have them escorted off your property without ever answering the door… and then refuse to answer the door when the police come back to talk to you… which would be the peak of hilarity.

(also they are called ‘pinkerton’. How can you take them seriously?)

So TLDR the guy bought a Magic: the Gathering product, was given the wrong one (which wasn’t supposed to be released yet) so WOTC sent private security to threaten him with jail time and ridiculous fines for them giving him the wrong product.

There is so much wrong about this.

WOTC… wtf man.
I remember when you were cool.

Anyone they sent would be hired goons. You think they have volunteers? Pinkertons is slightly infamous for having been involved in strikebreaks like 70 years ago. Blizzard is currently involved in strike breaking. Pinkertons was bought by SecuritasAB in 1999 and remade into a large business security firm, it’s not even owned or operated by anyone related to past activities.

Amazing how those scumbags are still in business.

You heavily downplayed the Pinkertons here. Their “strike break” here in Pittsburgh ended up being a riot that resulted in several deaths and many injured. There is an anti-Pinkerton act against them for their violence and murdering tendencies.

Blizz just union busting alone pales in comparison.

WOTC’s story doesn’t even jive with the Pinkerton’s statements.

One says they tried calling multiple times and exhausted every possible opportunity to contact him.

The other says they never called him because that would give him the opportunity to destroy evidence and they wanted to surprise him.

/sigh

Some people are just bad at crime, which is ironic for the guys responsible for many iterations of the Rogue class.

That was the point I was trying to make. Just sending the Pinkertons is an intimidation move. It doesn’t matter how nice they were. They have a rep and it proceeds them.

Pinkerton is basically legalized mob thugs.

Imagine thinking a card is worth hiring mercenaries to break down someones door.
Flawless logic here.
