I have no idea how you so poorly misinterpreted that. Other MMORPGs have limited housing to one of those plots per account, similar to WoW, because they know that people will go insane with the system. It’s no different than limiting the amount of decos you can have on a plot, the number of rooms, levels, etc.
I think they’ve said on more than a dozen occasions. This is just a start. It’s an Evergreen system that’s gonna continue to grow and give us more options in the upcoming expansions. People need to cool their jets. The feature isn’t even out yet and they’re already complaining about how little there is.
Blizzard: You can have a second house for $25 anywhere you like.
Actually Blizzard:
Housing is designed to be primarily player-first and not revenue-first. As a part of our focus on wide adoption, we wanted to ensure that Housing is available to everyone. If you want a house, you can have a house. No exorbitant requirements or high purchase costs, no lotteries, and no onerous upkeep (and if your subscription lapses, don’t worry, your house doesn’t get repossessed!).
We had Garrisons per character that all had individual settings (a dozen or so customizable building slots, guard and banner cosmetic options, and the level of the garrison itself as well as each individual building).
Kinda feels weird to say “we can’t have housing per character because of server load” when we kind of already did?
Like I get that there’s going to be more things to track in Housing than in Garrisons, but it’s not THAT different in concept.
So maybe I can see limiting it. Because, as someone pointed out, 60-whatever characters across potentially 8 WoW Accounts under one BNET Banner is… a lot. And while that might be outside of reality, people having 1 WoW account with 40+ characters is very much not.
But limiting it to -1- (per faction) seems excessive. It feels like they could at least allow us to cover more bases on a racial level.
It gets high fast with how many races and racial variants WoW has, and I doubt housing is THAT varied with its decorations (I haven’t consumed the videos yet), but I think giving us a generic 3 or 5 per faction would go a long way. Or scrap the per faction thing and just give us up to 5 or up to 10, period.
Reality is VERY few people would care to set up a house for every character they have, but having access to a handful would be great, especially for the RP side of things, but even non-RPers would appreciate having at least a few slots, I think.
It’s very different.
If they make more neighborhoods, then we’ll see this with being allowed another housing plot in another neighborhood.
Agreed.
Hopefully someday we get the option of 1 house per character.
Is there an MMORPG that does this? I don’t play FFXIV or GW2, so I don’t know how those ones work. Rift, SWTOR and ESO are one unique plot per account.
From what I’ve read online, Wildstar did.
Wildstar was limited in characters, though. There were only two megaservers and unless you paid a premium fee, only two characters per realm.
I did love their phasing system, though. Too bad WoW can’t make it work that well.
If I recall from Preach’s video, houses can have multiple building instances.
