More runeforging?

Kinda disappointed that after all this time we still only have 3 runeforging options - razorice, fallen crusader, or stoneskin gargoyle.

What new runeforge options could we add, or what ideas do you have for new runeforging?

Some ideas:

  1. Rune of pestilence:
    Your auto attacks have a chance to deal additional damage over time (all specs), and may burst festering wounds (unholy only)

  2. Rune of permafrost:
    Your auto attacks extend the duration of your frost damage over time effects (frost only) and have a chance to stun targets effected by frozen chains (all specs)

  3. Rune of the vampire:
    Your auto attacks have a chance to drain life from the target and siphon it to you (all specs), and have a chance to empower your next blood drinker cast, increasing the damage and healing done (blood only)

  4. Rune of the necromancer:
    Killing an enemy has a chance to raise a skeletal warrior from its corpse to fight alongside you for 20 seconds (max 3)

I would like to see another two or three runeforging enchants added, but then again, I guess we are lucky that the ones we have havent been taken away yet…

I honestly think they are useless. I get a new weapon and forget to rune forge I see no difference in performance or dps when I remember and go do it.

You’re doing something wrong if that’s the case. Runeforges add a significant amount of DPS!

All of the runeforges are better than their enchanting counterparts. Do you have any idea how much gold you save as a DK over an expansion?

There’s nothing else to add, there will always be a bis enchant, so why add others that just aren’t as good?

However, the only problem with the ones you listed are the extended frost damage. Frost fever is easily re-applied via howling blast the effect of extending its duration is negligible.

I really do love the “raise a skeletal warrior” though. It should be changed from “killing” to just a base proc chance for raid bosses. Like “Your damaging attacks have a chance to raise a ghoul or skeletal warrior from beneath to fight alongside you for 20 seconds (max 3).”

The skeletons could be ranged and the ghouls could be melee. Oh man that would be freaking AWESOME… Blizzard, look here now.

In terms of other runeforges, the options are pretty limitless. You can have AOE versions. “Your damaging attacks cause a mild winter too erupt causing a small amount of frost damage to enemies within 10 yards”.

Or a single target version “Your damaging attacks have a chance to empower your sword with frost damage causing your auto attacks a chance to proc Rime”.

Or even better, The Rune of Frostmourne - Your damaging abilities have a chance to spawn a ghostly version of frost mourne replacing your weapons for 10 seconds and allowing Obliterate to deal frost damage.

Yea, I could go on and on…

we used to have more runes but guess what, we only ever used fallen crusader or razor ice if dw.

honestly i dont even know why they kept stoneskin since its rarely taken over crusader

Fallen crusader is 15% str increase, that’s pretty significant lol

I think the 3 enchants we have are hoenstly enough and each one serves a purpose.
Razorice is for Frost DK
Fallen Crusader is the go-to for blood, unholy, and for frost’s second weapon
Stoneskin Gargoyle is for situations in which a blood DK would need the extra survival (really good for off tanking things like Fetid Devorer or soaking on Mythic Stormwall)
More would be cool, but unless they have a clearly defined purpose I see no point. They could add a rune mechanic for DKs much like the new major-minor essence.
