More player control over Vault loot

I along with I’m sure thousands of others keep getting completely screwed over week to week by vault loot.

I’ve been farming weeks and weeks for a weapon drop on my monk and received nothing but minor upgrades or literally nothing at all.

It’s very frustrating when you’ve spent a long time trying to gear your character and you see others that get their BIS weapon drop first week and proceed to vastly outperform you simply because of blessed Vault RNG.

There needs to be an incentivised system that either increases your chance every week for the piece you desire or some other way to use a currency from the vault to work towards your goal item.

If i don’t get a weapon on my monk to push higher keys with this week I’m done until 9.1.5 .

Yeah, Blizzard make some deterministic type changes to the system.

i threw the idea of a vendor who shows loot based on what u did for M+ and use the badges for that. instead we get an upgrade system that doesnt fully cap ur toon so u never really see bis

  • Valor should be implemented for raiders as a way to target gear if drops suck. So not a tonne of valor but enough to buy a piece a week or upgrade 12-18 ilvl’s.
  • There should be valor venders for PvE gear.
  • Loot from vault shouldn’t be able to have two slots in a row (excluding trinkets/rings).
  • 1-2 more pieces of gear should drop from each dungeon/raid boss.
  • Korthia should be 25-50% easier to get to tier 6 and transfer to alts/be account wide.
  • Remove the dumb scaling for PvP items and just make it so they have a lot more vers or a PvP stat (vers is the least preferred stat on most classes/specs).

Gearing would feel so much more fun and rewarding. Atm it’s a bloody slog, especially when you have to do it multiple times for alts.

As other mentioned just have Vendors. The toxic great vault just needs to be removed from the game. Weekly chest and a chore list to get them will always be toxic RNG. Furthermore there is no Vault catch up system for people who missed weeks of Vault loot. The Vault is a dam if I do dam if I don’t and will just make people uninstall.

  • There should be Valor vendors where you just buy 252 gear.
  • The Conquest Vendor you should just buy 246 gear.
  • Have Badge vendors for Raid gear, Tier sets and Trinkets.

There we go and remove all the tedious ranks on gear. Seriously just keep gearing simple, fast and fun.

We already get a currency from the vault and have vendors for mats and other currencies.

Add gear to one of those vendors even if its tokens for specific slots, at least then we can target the slots we need upgrades in rather than strictly leaving it to RNG.

Considering I’ve been talking about this a fair bit on other sites…yeah the vault’s a joke. My main keeps getting repeats of the same item…always a ring or trinket I don’t need or want. If it’s going to give me stuff I don’t need as far as upgrade that I didn’t get from the run at least give them to me for transmog. That or add a filter so you can filter slots you’d like it to aim for alongside your spec suggestions so I’m not just getting nothing but garbage rings. I mean if I want a garbage ring my main’s a jewel crafter I can make plenty I don’t need the vault vomiting them on me when all I’ve been trying to get is either an upgrade for a particular slot or transmog or the dang horse. It should also not focus only the current content raid but any raid so if I want Nathria stuff I can still get a chance at that for transmog purposes. I mean come on it’s stupid how they lock a memory for each class behind the dang vault then force you to have to throw yourself into the newest raid rather than just a raid. I mean raid finder is a thing for a reason not everyone is lucky enough to get raid groups from guilds or pugs

ohh that’s a sexy ultimatum…fix your vault, which was dramatically improved compared to the weekly chest we used to get, or I quit!

The vault frankly just didn’t do enough to reduce the RNG.

We went from 1% to around 4%, with the clearing of 10 M+ dungeons…so not really “great”.

Raids, never truly needed the vault. Bonus rolls were better. Now we are stuck in a world where bosses you no longer need remain on the “bonus roll/vault” loot table forever.

A better approach for raids would be to do 1 bonus roll per week (maybe less - takes more than 1 week to earn bonus coin) of guaranteed loot. You choose which boss, but it still pulls from that bosses’ entire loot table.

The best way to control the Vault is to remove the Vault. Then the game might start getting better.

Why exaclty were bonus rolls better?

Bonus rolls DID NOT give a 100% chance at getting loot and if you did get loot it was not a garunteed upgrade.

Great vault gives a 100% loot drop with 1-9 options that is not a garunteed upgrade.

Funny thing about weapons in vault is once you get a 252, you hope you don’t get another (unless you dual wield) my mage for instance has had 4 straight weeks of weapons, it’s an alt I only unlock one slot for but I’ve literally had 3 weeks of nothing in my vault bc it’s been a weapon I have or don’t need.

I was at a similar point as you though with the weapons on my mains but got super lucky and had back to back 252s for my enhance shm and last week rngesus finally blessed my hunter with a 252 philosopher.

I literally get the same gear each week in Vault or when I do get an item thats not something I already have, its a far cry from primary/useful stats.

At least with BONUS ROLLS you could target specific bosses for a chance of loot off them and not worry about getting boots for 5th week in a row…

It just needs to be smarter, which doesn’t seem like it would be that hard to do.

The first slot should always be an upgrade of your lowest ILvl piece, the third should always have a socket or bonus tertiary stat.

Well if we focus on raids alone, great vault gives guaranteed 1 out of 3 choices.

But it also keeps all bosses on the loot table regardless of whether you need loot or not from those bosses, which you could control with a bonus roll (only roll on bosses you want).

As to “guaranteed loot vs. not” - they could just revamp the bonus roll to be guaranteed (with only 1 available per week).

I guess it’s a matter of opinion, but I prefer the 100% chance at getting something I can potentially use vs the likely chance that I will get nothing.

Yeah, thats never going to happen.

If that is true, my first complaint wouldn’t be with the weekly vault. It would be with instance loot not giving you one by now. If you stop and think about it, you probably have had about 10 times the chances of getting one from an instance by now. I agree the vault needs some tweaks but your real complaint shouldn’t be with the vault but the fact if you were a PvP player, you would have been able to buy a weapon and upgraded it long ago.

It could. I’m not saying 100% deterministic. Your bonus roll is just a 100% off of the boss’ loot table, or make it 50%, but higher than what it was. They would also have to reduce it to 1 bonus roll per week (hard cap).

You haven’t been raiding long enough then. I’m already at the point where I only need loot off of Sylvannas…but at a minimum I have to clear 2 other bosses I don’t need just so I can get a 1:35 chance at loot from Sylvannas from the vault.

My point is the vault looks good early on, but it really isn’t much better than it was once you get to the middle/end of gearing.

You’re right. I have been M+'ing, which has a much higher chance of giving me an upgrade from the great vault.

But you are correct, having better gear results in a lower chance of actually getting an upgrade from the vault

But but but.

RNG is RNG…

Well… there’s a reason the house always wins in the end. And if they can make gear progression take twice as long by hiding time gates behind “RNG is RNG”, the house wins.
