Dragonflight 10.0.7 PTR Development Notes for February 14th - New Paladin Talents - Wowhead News

I’m really interested in the idea of these shields. If I read it right (if I’m wrong let me know), it looks like they might scale with the MW’s vers. Would this mean a change to stat priority, at least for the “caster” build?

Edit: I don’t remember where I saw the actual talent break down. It’s not in the wow head article. Perhaps it was on the official WoW site. Gonna have to look.

Either way Yu’Lon is gonna heal for a good chunk more! Im excited!

Lesson tracker for the next lesson will be a very nice QoL addition also for planning the next lesson/buff out. Nice addition on top of the other 10.0.7 SG additions!

Even if it’s just PW:S level, used every min it will add up. Especially in M+. 10.07 can’t come soon enough imo.

So the FW celestial synergizes with EM? Something a FW never uses??? WTH is blizzard thinking when they put this stuff together?

Okay but like, they made Zen pulse not require enemies, but it still doesnt heal base and only with nearby enemies, meaning failed casts lol

assuming it was their way of fixing it, but still funny

Chi-Ji already synergized with it before this PTR patch notes.
Also: Chi-Ji reduces the costs and cast time of EM. You should use that spell at least when it’s being spontaneous.
Every heal after that will become 30% stronger (+ 10% from breath) while having an extra HoT.
Other than that, in raids it can be spread through soothing as well to spread the enveloping breath on the raid if needed.

It’s not a celestial to only further DPS on mobs. At 3 mobs with Faeline every BoK can be followed by an instantly cast EM, being spread quickly, extended by Rising Mist.
I wouldn’t say it’s something you never use. It’s rather something that’s used altogether with Chi-Ji.

Only the shield part is new, enveloping breath interacting with enveloping mist while your celestial is out has always been there.

For Chi-Ji you get free instant enveloping mists you should be putting on people to trigger enveloping breath.

The shield is just when you spawn them. So it work well with the 1min cast thing but thats all. They dont cast multiple shield only once when you cast the ability its better than nothing tough

It will help me stomach that they are on the GCD is how I’m looking at it.

I think this plus the other buffs like 5 target SG is going to make MW pretty awesome in dungeons.

Shaohao’s Lessons now displays a tracking buff indicating which Lesson will be learned on the next Sheilun’s Gift cast.

Neat. Might lead to some gameplay decisions of casting SG at lower stacks to fish for the desired buff, especially with the third talent reducing cast time.

Zen Pulse no longer requires an enemy to be present to be cast.
Fixed an issue that caused Zen Pulse to not function with in-game mouseover settings.

Finally fixing the mouseover casting bug!
And, I guess this means ZP will just be a free, light healing cooldown if it’s not going to require enemies? 165% + gust is about a Vivify, so maybe this is an attempt to give us more “Vivifies” without just making it permanently instant cast.

Enveloping Breath has been renamed to Empowered Celestial.
Empowered Celestial – While active, Yu’lon and Chi’Ji heal up to 6 nearby targets with Enveloping Breath when you cast Enveloping Mist, healing over 7 seconds, and increasing the healing they receive from you by 10%. When activated, Yu’lon and Chi’Ji apply Chi Cocoons to 5 targets within 40 yards, absorbing damage for 10 seconds.

So… EB was extended 1s to match EM + Mist Wrap?
The shield is in interesting addition. I guess it’s a recognition that the 12s uptime from Gift of the Celestials is a bit shorter than the average incoming damage burst window. Doesn’t really change how we’re approaching a celestial window.

Agreed! The gcd does suck - but having Yu’Lon pop some shields on people every minute will be nice! Basically free absorb type healing in a raid and it makes celestials feel good to press when it’s needed in m+.

Wondering if they plan to change Jade Bond up now. It already had issues competing with Gift imo ( Yu’Lon’s ). With the recent changes to the mana cost of Env while Yu’Lon is up ( in 10.0.5 ) I was able to drop down to the 1 minute celestial in all content already and it just lines up better with things.

Yu’Lon’s Jade Bond might need some kind of buff/rework now if it is to compete with Gift of the celestials. ( or they can make it a full time pet talent plzplzplz ). Gift could be the main choice now going forward if you run Yu’Lon, means more shield events ( every min as opposed to every 2.5 ish mins )

Not according to datamining. Suggests it still heals based on targets… not Healing+targets which is really dumb lol

see you agree with me

Just seeing this now! Somehow I missed the extra 1 sec being added to the breath. Interesting! I guess that gives us 8 sec EB’s with Mist wrap now if talented into both. ( assuming the interaction works between the 2 still in 10.0.7 )

I would guess no, since it’ll be an exchange of like 10% vers for every 1% of the players health worth of shield.

Problem with Wowhead putting up multiple articles on the same thing, it’s from the PTR build 48076 datamining article rather then the PTR development notes article.

Bold you believe actual thought goes into changes

Yes, which never made any sense to me since its a spell FWrs never use (outside of a few VERY niche places). They keep trying to push SooM and EM on a spec that has no real uses for these spells.

It’s not about dps, it’s about GCDs. You’re not going to waste the GCD on an EM, since (AFAIK) you’re getting more healing going for more kicks.

If they want us to use more abilities in our rotation, they really need to free up more GCDs. Take EM off the GCD or have it auto proc instead of casted or give it charges that I can blast out when I’m not in melee range (as most fights have a lot of motion).

I don’t need or want another niche spell that’ll eat up a keybind to be used once every 18 runs…

The things I never thought I’d see.
A Damage reduction added to MW. WOW!
Awesome news.

My only critique is that they are attaching this to the Celestials instead of just making a “mass chi cocoon”.

There is already so much healing inside of the celestial cooldowns that this buff is going to waste

It really should be a stand-alone ability that we can decide when to use separately from our celestial, because there is already enough healing attached to those cooldowns

Alternatively would be really cool to see this new talent as a choice node that replaces Essence Font healing with Absorbs. THAT would be fire

Also, please consider shortening RJW’s HoT effect to 6 seconds. As of right now, it heals over too long of a period of time to be relevant to realistic damage patterns. Monk is in desperate need of something to press in high movement scenarios that heals a lot on a long cooldown. A 6 second bursty AoE heal on a 45s CD would be so good for MW.

Ummm…current enveloping breath is like applying enveloping mist to the entire party (in addition to the person you put it on).

It’s 100% worth the GCD with Chi-Ji.

If you haven’t been using the free instant enveloping during Chi-Ji with the breath talent you are missing out on a lot of healing.

The whole spec is a disaster…

We don’t need more niche abilities. I already have 2 full rows of keys + 9 mouse buttons (apart from LB/RB) and a dozen macros already. Synergies with spells no one wants to use anyways, talents were forced to take in a tree that’s a haphazard mess that makes zero sense.

Calling blizz devs morons would be insulting to morons at this point.
