Same things that are always going on. This is far from the first time there’s been multiple maintenances in a week and it won’t be the last either
Game is a bit buggy atm. So, hopefully they clean things up.

I work for a major datacenter and we have server maintenance going on all the time both for our own systems as well as hundreds of customers. Worst case the systems are only down for the time it takes to reboot - everything gets prestaged.
It defies logic that a major company like Blizzard, and certainly a leviathan like Microsoft, doesn’t have system upgrades configured such that they only cause a few minutes of outage, not hours.

it’s the norm, and remember there is always extended maintence after the regular maintence with a 25% chance to proc an additional extension. Blizzard likes to try to hard dps the forums raid but they lack a good tank so they always pull all the aggro.

Im also bill gates, and know implamenting new code on existing code can cause inforseen issues. There’s not dedicated testers testing every insance of possibility when something is patched. Gettings things perfect is not easy. This isnt simply a server, its an mmo.

Thats true, but its kinda funny how most other mmo’s don’t have so many extended maintences and those that do usually are better at communicating it, and even give their player base a little something something for the trouble.

This will be like the 5th or 6th hotfix patch to TWW so far. Perhaps THIS time they’ll fix the complete broken Legion MSQ???
