More involved content for professions, please!

I feel professions should have more rewards from group and solo content. Running around picking ore and herbs is kinda boring and I keep seeing bots when I do it. I feel we would be having more fun if there were quests, dungeons, treasures, rares, hidden bosses, and world events that rewarded us with more profession goods than the ole node clicking run around

Add player housing.

You’re basically asking for Archeology and Blizz already said “lmao no” there.

I feel you! i wish there was more too!

sadly they did this in legion and people hated doing the fun questlines for their professions so it’ll most likely not happen again. D:

I’m confused as to why they discontinued archaeology when a ton of the new content coming up is archeological. We are uncovering ancient secrets in the next patch

I remember what they did with Legion and thought it was a step in the right direction for professions. And then BFA didn’t expand on that too much, but Shadowlands they straight up just did the bare-bones minimum and even did away with a lot of the features/functions of some professions altogether. And they straight up ditched archeology this expansion!

Well see, the Shadowlands doesn’t have any secrets to uncover.

Right? What City of Secrets? Never heard of her!

Right?

A few expansions down the line and it’ll just be an Overwatch-style matchmaking screen for M+ dungeons.

Yeah, no, definitely no secrets there.

Surprising, then, how we keep finding these old books and carvings and items and so on.

Nope, those don’t exist. See, time doesn’t flow normally in the Shadowlands, so there’s no history.

The Garrisons were pretty fun for that. Wish I could continue to update my Garrison profession huts.

I keep seeing people make this silly type of response (sorry, no insult intended, you not silly, just the response) and can never figure out why. Unless you are just parotting the Blizzard reason for it, and the whole point is that they said that so they didn’t have to work on the professions. It’s a sort of development denial ('Great, we can say this place doesn’t have any artifacts to find so don’t need to work on that, lets get back to implementing conduit energy…").

Their reasoning aside, the whole history thing is bull droppings. The place is littered with demolished buildings from ages past. I mean, things didn’t just disappear, they are still there. We literally find old things in the game from questing.

The flow of time has zero to do with the physicallity of the place. I mean, its the afterlife supposedly filled with souls and spirits yet there are fish and bears and beasts we kill and skin and eat. There are living herbs will pull up. Rules are made for game convenience, not for logic, not that I can see.

We most certainly are not hiding a Night club under The heart of the Forest we kept secret from you Maw walkers all this time, no sir or ma’am! No party palace here!

Not to mention, 20 or so minutes after we enter the Maw, we escape it by interacting with a mysterious relic of old.

Like it’s the first thing we actually do. I know a lot of people will lean on the Covid excuse, and I suppose it’s only fair to keep that in mind… but in my opinion there’s no justifiable reason for it.

Well I suppose if anyone would know-- or not know-- about a secret night club that definitely doesn’t exist-- it would be the Lord Herne.

No okay but see, you say they’re old, but that’s not the case, right? Because time flows differently. It’s relative, so all that stuff isn’t old yet, so it’s not historical. It can’t be historical if it’s not old, and it can’t be old because time flows differently.

Plus, okay, like, this stuff isn’t buried. You can’t dig up ancient artifacts if you don’t have a shovel and I don’t think I’ve seen any of those in the Shadowlands. I mean, Maldraxxus is flesh, so why would they even have shovels when you just need a big knife? And Ardenweald is a huge tree, so you’d just take an axe there.

Yeah, probably not any shovels.

I think they could have tied Archeology to the Brokers in Oribos. They seem like the perfect group that would be interested in it.

Really, there has to be something to be something only one bring anything to SL for Archeology is us or the traders ,the dead don’t bring anything.

As for profession they can be combine ,if Blizzard would have player housing.

While I have never held a high opinion of professions in this game, I will never understand why they’ve killed Archaeology. I mean…fine don’t let it drop gear/toys/cosmetics even.

But yeesh, put in a bunch of grey items with flavor text to flesh out the world and story. Yes, it wouldn’t be super valuable and ignored by most people.

But some people would still do it. You have all the mechanisms in place…just create some flavor items to add to world building and bam done.

It’s such a horrifically low bar and yet that would have added an additional avenue for lore people to geek out over.
