More gear = lower crits?

hitting PVP target dummy with 40% mastery and full pvp greens, 2.5-2.8m eviscerate crits every trial.

hitting PVP target dummy with 65% mastery and full pvp epics, 1.7m eviscerate crits.

Haven’t seen anything near 2million in days. What’s up?

PVP dummies always have broken modifiers. You’ll never see the same damage for it.

Mastery is for off hand trigger.

Lower PVP gear has a higher budget of other secondary stats while higher PVP gear has a budget for higher primary stats, stamina and versa.

Just look at crit/vers gear of PVP honor gear compared to PVP conquest gear and you will see you lose a bit of crit rating but you gain way more versa, stamina and agility.

PVP gearing budget varies so much from one expansion to another it is hard to keep up.

In WoD green entry PVP gear had higher versa and stamina while blue honor gear and purple conquest gear had higher primary and secondary stats.

Does this address your question somewhat or add to your confusion?

They seriously need to fix pvp dummies. Unlike PVE players we cant sim for PVP.

Any testing needs to be done manually and that is impossible with the broken PVP dummies.

My rogue friend and I were just thinking that we will need one of us to play a healer to test properly. Seems silly that we need 2 players to test for PVP.

crafted gear and some pve items, will get you to a higher theshold to do dmg…

full pvp gear (vendor) isnt the best.

but yes you will be a bit easier to kill this way, but you will just have to react faster and avoid getting caught. its a harder to pull off because gettingg caught by monk or paladin can ruin your day real fast… or a hunter you didnt see…

i literally have a set just to do dmg… and i only use it when im full on CDs to escape. its a really gimp set but the damage is unreal. i can pop a warrior in 3 seconds when i have rage buff…

I should clarify:

Mastery increases finishing move damage. I have significantly more mastery AND agility in full epic pvp gear, but my top crits are way lower than they were in greens.

It’s as if blizzard implemented hidden modifiers or something to make greens more competitive than they really are. Idk.

I put on my greeen pvp gear and get nearly 3mil eviscerates now (new high achieved)… literally trouble shooting this. Broken?

Not broken which is why you often see some Rogues swap out for some PVE pieces or keep one of the honor PVP rings for that reason.

PVP conquest gear is capped based on a particular item budget. Plus, you reach a point you do not need that much versatility either and value more crit/mastery rating.

I have no idea what people in here are going on about but it sounds like for some reason pvp mods are messing with your damage, I’d try it on a real player to confirm your findings. If your stats go up, your damage goes up, assuming you didn’t trade off other stats for it.

Mastery for sub and crits in pvp have heavy hidden modifiers that will effect their damage. PvP dummies can be a bit sketchy for testing these modifiers out.
